OT: NFL 2025 Playoff Games Thread

Remember how great the KC fans treated the Giants the weekend after 9-11. The only downside of the Chiefs is that Taylor Swift will get more air time than the game.
All I remember from that game was the pregame ceremony at Arrowhead and everyone acted with respect for America

Chiefs have been a likeable team for a long time compared to most others.

Willie Lanier and Hank Stram, Christian Okoye and Derrick Thomas, Buck Buchanan, Curly Culp and the monster cage crew, Deron Cherry, Gonsalez and Mahomes - lots of great and likable players. Unfortunately they also seemed to have more than the average share of tragedies off the field. Thomas , Jovan Belcher, Rashee Rice, Jim Tyrer, parade shootings - lots of wild stuff went on in KC

Wonder what the ratings will be. Doubt it will be what a network's would have been. Wonder what Amazon paid for the rights.
I assume a playoff game is part of the Thursday Night Football package/contract.

Good to see Jim Harbaugh lose in the first game. Baltimore looking great, but Pittsburgh has been s'ing the bed over the past few weeks, so does it even matter.

Al Michaels is the most boring , disconnected announcer I’ve ever heard. He’s been this way for years which is probably why he got delegated down to Amazon broadcast but man he is a tough listen. Huge play occurs and he’s like ultra ho hum.

Outrageous i cant watch the game

Its not going to get better.
Streamers have mostly bland offerings and need sports - spesh football.
Streamers will pay over the top - a billion this year for Amazon.
This is why we need NFL 2.0 - B1G and SEC ready to roll
Make football great again - stick it to NFL
NFL sees fans as bacteria in a dish

It wont get better I agree. It's all about the $$$$
I think it was one of the past games from last year that did really well ratings wise that was only offered on a streaming service. The more this happens the more they will do it.
They talked of a Super bowl being played overseas happening in the future. That would suck!!

GO PACK GO today!

We've had both college and pro playoff games and a large percentage have been awful.

Yesterday's first game was pretty good. 1st half was close. 2nd half was watching Jim Harbaugh get blown out. LOL! But yes, as expected, the Baltimore/Pittsburgh game was non-competitive.

Close doesn't = entertaining. Especially when the 2nd half was a blowout.

Why would the Super Bowl overseas suck ? It’s a television event.

Blowouts are normally not entertaining.....unless Harbaugh is the one getting blown out. Then very entertaining!
I'm neutral on Harbaugh. He's definitely left of center but one of the greatest coaches of this generation. He has won everywhere he's been.

The Texans probably go to Kansas City now , assuming Buffalo wins. Damn what an easy conference semifinal game for the chiefs.
The Texans are not that good.

Because football is mainly an American sport. Us casual fans rarely go to the event but having your team in it with the game being played here makes it much much easier.

Looks to be the case. The other game would be a heavyweight match between Buffalo and Baltimore. Winner goes to Arrowhead to take on the champs. Personally, I'm hoping for a KC/Detroit SB. History vs. History! 3-peat or first ever.

Buffalo in the SB would be pretty cool as well. Good storylines. Even Baltimore wouldn't be bad. Can Lamar get over the hump (i.e., like Steve Young)?

Mahomes didn't make All Pro or Pro Bowl this year. Kelce did but he was very mediocre. Pacheco hasn't returned to form yet . Looks like a flat year for KC just on paper

Yep . Except for that meaningless wins stat

I saw a lot of KC this year and they pulled a lot of close games out in last minutes. "Lucky" was a word that came around a lot in media. They never looked like a dominant team. Good teams can play reg season easy when they are used to winning every year. Can KC "throw the switch" as they say? Maybe Mahomes can but the rest of the team is touch and go. Kelce might have to take whatever he was on last year in playoffs when he was a lunatic screaming in everyone's faces (but making circus catches).

Brady just said a helmet to helmet hit was a hit on the ball and clean. Wtf
What the hell is the rule
It was def targeting, and then the replay showed the Packers most likely recovered the fumble...I agreed not indisputable evidence to overturn a homer call on the field though. A lot of hometown cooking already in Philly.

1. The most significant change expands the rule against using the helmet as a weapon. A 15-yard penalty will continue to be called if a player lowers his head and makes forcible contact with his helmet against an opponent. But now, a player will also be penalized if he uses any part of his helmet or face mask to butt or make forcible contact to an opponent's head or neck area. If the foul is committed by a defensive player, it will also automatically result in a first down for the offense. The player could be disqualified. Incidental contact by the mask or helmet in the course of a conventional block or tackle is allowed. The league expects most of the penalties will be called on players in space, not on those who are playing close to the line of scrimmage.
