OT: NFL 2025 Playoff Games Thread

Your typical philthadelphia fan, and they wonder why no one like them

Ooooooor, denounced as trash by every single Philly fan I know, and every one I've seen online discussing it. But, cool narrative. Eagles already took his tickets away., so the team doesn't condone it either. But you keep typing whatever you want.

Thanks for saving me the typing. Now maybe we can get back to football on the field.

Come on. This isn't a one-off.
Eagle fans have earned that reputation over the years.

Outside of Washington-Tampa Bay, none of the first round games were very good. Hoping this week is better.
I'm sure everyone agrees with that. Judging from the odds, the best game will be Baltimore at Buffalo; remarkably enough, the road team is favored by a point. Philly is a six-point favorite against the L.A. Rams, and K.C. and Detroit are favored by over a touchdown against Houston and Washington respectively. But my hunch is that the Philly and Detroit games will be close.

FWIW, Philly fans have gotten much better since Citizens Bank Park and Lincoln Financial Field have replaced the Vet. The new stadiums are much more attractive and a better class of fan comes. The Vet, like almost all multipurpose stadiums, was a lousy place to watch any sport. At this point I'm not sure Philly fans are really worse than anywhere else. But of course there are jerks like this guy.

I remember when Philly's Veteran's Stadium had a court and a jail

Peeing in sinks, fights in the stands, a flare gun(!): The awful antics that birthed Eagles Court at The Vet, and why it went away

No one put a court in a stadium before, and no one has done it since. But a deputy mayor for communications remembers today, the time was right: “The fans — even by Philadelphia standards — were just getting out of hand.”

'Instant justice': After a violent 49ers game, the Eagles opened a stadium jail

It really is a one-off at this point. Philly fans aren't even near the bottom anymore. In California, there have been people killed over their team affiliation, and not just once. Same in Chicago. I get it. You want to hate on Philly, so you will go back to the 60s and Santa. But it's just not like that any more. You can keep the narrative alive in your head, but I promise you, you're wrong.

Sam Darnold, your business is concluded. You may now revert to your previous level of play.

Sincerely,
Satan

Yes. BTW, the Philly fans were right to boo the "Santa," and he understood they were booing the team, not him. The execrable Howard Cosell, a New York homie if there ever were one, blew the incident out of proportion. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philadelphia_Eagles_Santa_Claus_incident

You’re saying he is wrong but this just happened. He’s not wrong.

Everybody agrees the incident happened and is terrible. The issue is whether it's a "one-off" or part of a continuing pattern unique to Philadelphia. As I've posted, I think he is wrong in insisting it's the latter.

Niners thank Sam and Satan for gifting them a 4th round compensatory pick for playing like a franchise QB for one season.

unfortunately the cost was like 75% of the starters and their backups being injured this season

No. I don't hate on Philly. My hatred is strictly reserved for Dallas.
But I have seen Philly fans in action many times over the years. The reputation is deserved IMO.

Replay Assist exists to pick up flags on bad calls, but evidently does not come into play when the bad calls benefit the Chiefs (especially on the one bad spot which luckily did not end up costing the Texans).

The black line judge who made that bad spot just gave KC an extra yard!! Luckily the other side guy changed it

Mahomes tried to flop running out of bounds before the TD. Surprised a flag wasn't thrown. The official must not have gotten the memo.

That 4th down looked like an RU Jerry Kill speciall; grind the play clock to 2 seconds, block no one, and have the QB get sacked.

Kelce is at the top of the major playoff receiving categories and Houston doesn't bother to cover him.

Stroud has a ton of talent but he's been taking too many bad sacks this game. He doesn't seem to have good pocket sense to get rid of the ball when the blocking is breaking down around him.
