This post confuses me.
There's a rule against using a prop to celebrate, and I think the refs were bound to throw the flag. Collinsworth commented that the refs were smiling and laughing with Zeke, but they had to throw the flag.I'm sure this was a planned event if it could happen. The Cowboys are a huge supporter of the Salvation Army. They start the Salvation Army nationwide fundraising before the Thanksgiving Day game every year.
But why the penalty?? Any different than the Lambeau Leap??
Not allowing players to celebrate has nothing to do with it.
Anyone who watched the Giants-Lions yesterday saw what the real issue was. After countless timeouts/stoppages in the 1Q, the quarter ends on a questionable play. They take the extended commercial break, we get back, and only then is McAdoo allowed to challenge. Timeout, commercial, come back, review, announce the call.
Pure pain.
exactly. (but I thought it was great)There's a rule against using a prop to celebrate, and I think the refs were bound to throw the flag. Collinsworth commented that the refs were smiling and laughing with Zeke, but they had to throw the flag.
Well the NFL isn't going to fine him.Zeke matched the fine from the NFL with a donation to the Salvation Army. I'll be sure to tell Zeke next week (Philly/Dallas game) about this site and you guys.
He was still in the big red tub and as I was laughing out loud that was my first thought. And yes it was great even if it was staged. The whole thing smells like a publicity stunt, but it's a fresh baked cookies kind of smell.
At first they were going to fine him. He still made a donation. I'll be in Philly for Jan. 1 as usual (wife's family) and to meet up with my cousins (Zeke and his father). Besides, I don't like the Cowboys, Eagles or the Giants.Well the NFL isn't going to fine him.
Philly/Cowboys is not next week. Jan 1.
Big game for the Giants in Philly coming up first. Short week. Must win for Giants
At least you can go to the game and not be subject to watching the Mummers Parade. Lived in the Philly area since 1988 and still can't figure out why people enjoy that nonsense. At first they were going to fine him. He still made a donation. I ask my wife all the time what the hell is the Mummers Parade?:(At least you can go to the game and not be subject to watching the Mummers Parade. Lived in the Philly area since 1988 and still can't figure out why people enjoy that nonsense.
Supposedly because the Salvation army bucket is considered a prop and the rule specifically prohibits the use of props when celebrating. The Lambeau leap doesn't have any props. To me, this is a very narrow distinction and don't agree.I'm sure this was a planned event if it could happen. The Cowboys are a huge supporter of the Salvation Army.
