IDK man, it's a play that happens hundreds of times a year. Jack is very weak on his skates. I doubt there's a state on this but he's gotta lead the league on blowing edges

At the very least that’s a penalty 90% of the time. Eichel was trailing and Jack did nothing to initiate contact as he was flying past the goal. like I said it may not be intentional but definitely reckless.
Should have been a penalty given the earlier call against Jack but some refs hate Keefe and the Devils. Unfortunate but accidents happen. Both Jack's are friends.
At this point we need Jack to strengthen his upper body, and we must get bigger around him. Not conducive for him to be able to maintain his effectiveness.

This will say alot. If ownership wants to win they could put both Jack and Dougie ( week to week) on LTIR since week to week usually means a month or so. That would be 17 million in LTIR money. This is how ownership would best show fans they want to win.
I hope I'm wrong, but I think Fitz will not even be allowed to spend Jack's LTIR. Ownership didn't let him use it last year!

Fitz cannot waive the white flag here. To do so would be to tell guys like Hischier, Bratt and Meier that this whole thing really is just about Jack. There are guys in the room that are capable. Add strategically and let's see where we are on Friday night. 20 games and a 6 point lead to play with.
The tricky part will be finding a trade partner that is not looking to fleece the Devils. Due to the injuries, the team is not looking at a "it would be nice to add" vs. "really need to grab quality players."
To go big game hunting, what would be the return? Lots of young talent on the Devils, and tinkering can help, but don't think a huge deal will help long term.

A report I saw from Devils Reddit said he would be out because of the police activity in Canada. He is healthy, it would just be because of the allegation.
The 2nd rounder is conditional and ANA did retain half of Dumoulin's salary. As a player, he's fine. a left-handed shot that'll allow all pairings to play on their strong sides. Defense hasn't been the issue and it needs to stay that way. Trying to push for the playoffs with 2 of Casey/Nemec/Hatakka in the lineup every night was going to open up a new problem. Was it an overpay? Probably, but Fitz would've flubbed the 2nd rounder anyway.
Seamus Casey, Yegorov BU goalie and Hameenaho were his last 3 2nd round draftees . All look pretty good

Welp, 3pm has come and gone and FItz' answers to this teams problems are Brian Dumoulin, Cody Glass and Daniel Sprong. They're the type of players I'd be fine with ALREADY being in our lineup, but not as supposed upgrades to what's already there.
I've always liked Sprong. He's a Devil killer and always thought he'd be a nice fit in our bottom 6. But he hasn't played since 12/28 and was available on waivers in early January. Fitz just traded for him. Brilliant.
Fitz forfeited all leverage by giving Kovacevic that big deal today, along with the Dumoulin move yesterday. He basically told the rest of the league that Nemec/Casey have questionable future paths at best in NJ. The league had NJ over a barrel with those two as assets.

It's not Fitz, Fitz is a puppet! Harris and Blitzer don't care about winning and will not allow their GM, Fitz or whoever to spend to win. This year they didn't let Fitz spend the 13 million + in LTIR money. Last season they refused to let Fitz spend Dougie's 9 million LTIR money. They are corporate owners rooting for dollars above all, not winning! No one should buy a ticket until things change and they show they want to win or better yet SELL.
Cody Glass in 51 games has 4 goals, we gave up a 3rd round pick after giving up a 2nd round pick for a 3rd pair defenseman 50% retained. This is BAD OWNERSHIP!However our puppet GM is happy as both players have Pittsburgh ties. Sadly the pain is far from over as Harris and Blitzer will not sell for a long time. It has sadly been proven you can make great money with a losing franchise.

Am I disappointed yes . But what moves that were made today had you saying I wish that was us making the deal instead? Dylan Cozens and Fabian Zetterlund were the only ones for me . Those are the only 2 I think we had the assets to make the trade . But even so buffalo wanted a center back for cozens and we really don’t have one .
Who do you want them to spend the LTIR money on? It's not free agency; there has to be a hockey trade that benefits them. Prices for defenseman this year were very high (as you saw w Domoulin), so unless your making a major deal, the cap space is largely meaningless.
Yes, a underwhelming deadline. This team seems fearful of playing young defense. I hope Nemec and Casey don't end up like Holtz.
There were plenty of guys available, like O'Reilly, Schenn, or Boeser. Fitz/ ownership did the same thing last year. Not to mention a 2nd for a 3rd pair defenseman. Be happy your a Rangers fan. Fitz called about Rantenan and Petterson, neither player I would want. Although not as good as a few years ago we still had potentially Nemec, Mercer, Casey, future 1st round picks, and other early round picks for actual help. Look at what other GMs did, the Devils should have done better.
