OT: NY Mets Season

??????

Need a vintage Noah start, some runs for him, and a W.

PS: We also need deGrom to not get reinjured tomorrow.

Highlights from last night's Mets/Phillies game:

The only balls that were hit last night:

I guess Tony Lukes is CBP's Shake Shack?

Annnnnnd it rained:

Crazy that the Mets and Phillies have TWO Old School Doubleheaders this year July at Citi Filed and August at CBP:

Damnedest inning I've ever seen. 45 pitches, three walks, four full counts, 20 foul balls, and no runs. Gotta be a record for most pitches in a scoreless inning.

Just a tidbit about the Reds. At least the Mets are not the Dodgers:

The Reds entered their four-game series at Dodger Stadium as basically the worst team in the majors (give or take). They improbably swept the Dodgers, holding them to nine runs, for their first four-game sweep in L.A. since 1976. The Dodgers are a complete, ugly mess right now.

Yeah I know hindsight is 20 20 but why didn’t Calloway bring in Blevins to face the lefty PH? I get Blevins hasn’t been very good this year but isn’t he in the pen to deal with lefties and with Sewald at the end of his what 3rd inning, one just felt something ugly was about to occur. I’m not liking this Manager. At least he turned in the correct lineup card and we didn’t have to watch Robles pitch

The question I would have for Calloway is: If you are not going to bring in Blevins in that situation, why was he warming up? In what situation did you envision using him, other than that one?
Not surprisingly, Callaway was asked exactly that question. He said that Blevins was up "in case things went completely haywire". Translation: he has lost confidence in Blevins.

Decision time?? Sandy should get fired . Sandy m.o before signing with the mets was that he was a great evaluator. A money ball g.m!! He would find a diamond in the rought!!! When was the last time he made a significant or decent trade?? Outside Cespedes in which we gave a young all star pitcher to get him!? He has been in the helm for how many years now? We made all these trade last year for nothing to show for. One world series appearance to show??? Come on mang we are in ny.

Not a great talent evaluator.... even for a clown show....Bozo and Krusty would never work for him.

Meh. The Buy/Sell/Hold decisions are still two months away. In other words we are not even halfway to the decision point.

All three catchers???

To quote Casey Stengel: "You have to have a catcher because if you don't, you're likely to have all passed balls."
Get something in return of value. Gosh, the roster is weak in certain positions:
C
1B-they should move Bruce here and give Nimmo and Lagares more starts.
SS (not sold on Rosario)

Time to bring Omar back from Latin America, and kick that smug face ALDERSON, out on his butt.
Sandy, CEO of Padres from 2005-09
2005 - 82-80, 1st NL West. weakest record among division champions, finishing 82-80, the worst ever in a non-strike year
2006- 88-74, 1st NL West, Lost in NLDS
2007- 89-74, 3rd in NL West
2008- 63-99, last in NL West--Superstorm Sandy damage starts to kick in
2009- 75-87, 2nd to last in NL West--Padres theme song is Free Fallin'
2010- 90-72, bounce back, 2nd in NL West. Last winning year since 2017
2011- 71-91,
2012- 76-86
2013- 76-86
What will Alderson's legacy be? It's weird because I think he made the right decisions in many cases, like putting the focus on building talent from within but here we are four years later with nothing to show for all of his work, except for a facility in the Dominican Republic. It's shame that he's leaving the Padres in a much worse place than it was when he got here.

Mets: Sandy takes over in 2010:

2010- 79-83
2011- 77-85
2012- 74-88
2013- 74-88 Justin Turner dealt
2014- 79-83
2015- 90-72 (lost in World Series) Daniel Murphy dealt.
2016- 87-75, lost Wild Card. Lucas Duda dealt
2017- 70-92. The ineptitude kicks in
2018- Mets look like they will finish below .500

Having a hard time remembering what fueld the 2015 and 2016 seasons--stellar pitching, which quickly evaporated?
