Unreal...

Woman claims she was mistreated by police during arrest for an outstanding warrant. Police have now released the video of the incident, which paints quite the opposite picture. They were beyond courteous, brought her to the side of the vehicle so no one would see her, and even offered to drive her to work after it was all cleared up. In addition, they even let her leave the vehicle on the side of the road, without impounding it.

In several social media posts following the arrest, Perry expressed that she believed she was mistreated because of her race.

"The police treated me inappropriately and disproportionately," Perry wrote. "The fact of my blackness is not incidental to this matter."

Perry has since taken down her Twitter account, citing hacking fears and harassment. She also has changed her Facebook profile.

So she screamed "RACISM!!!!" up to the point where video evidence disproved it.

Odd situation. She was 100% in the wrong and the police were actually nice to her. Don't know why she took it to social media and made it a bigger deal than it actually was.

It will be interesting to see what Cornell West, in particular, and Al Sharpton do in light of the video.

Yup, pretty much. This is the mindset of the PC/lib culture. Cry victimization regardless of the facts. Good job by the police department on this one.

The entire Princeton U Dept of African American Studies is outraged at the treatment she received.
They have posted a letter.
I guess a warrant for your arrest is not a reason for an arrest for these scholars.
Were normal required arrest procedures not to be followed because she is special?

I guess I am blinded by my white privilege.

Here's where BLM can make some traction. Trot out these 2 officers as a model for professionalism, respect and even kindness. Make your case by extolling this good behavior. Forge alliances based on common ground that every single person in the country can get behind. Change the dynamic from us against them, to ALL of us (including these 2 officers) against them.

Unfortunately, the above idea (dream) is already DOA. Got trumped when the prof cried wolf and threw out the RC. Carry on.

Upaid parking tickets, failure to change your licence when moving (which is exactly why they didn't know where to send the notices) and going 20mph over the limit.

Better get the DOJ involved here as they were clearly profiling and being raciest with this POS. I hope she gets national embarrassment.

She won't stop until they rename the School of Public & International Affairs after her.

Your last paragraph captured it. The chances of that happening are roughly equal to my chances of winning MegaMillions. Far more likely we get round 2 of "Pigs in a blanket. Fry'em like bacon".

The chances of that died long before the Prof pulled out the RC. It died with the idea that BLM ever wanted to improve relations between cops and the AA community.

Why don't you participate in the thread by expressing your opinion about the article? What do you think?

It's the response of people who have taken positions contrary to reality. They don't want to discuss the actual issue. It's easier to try and demonize those do.

Seeing a lot of that these days from a specific group of people, specifically the left in this country.

It took two posts to turn this thread into an identity politics shitfest. Is this a record?
Did you even read what I quoted from the article concerning her posts on social media?

I agree that it happens a lot, but I disagree that it's just the left. And it's not just this year. It happens every time we have a POTUS election. Most of my friends on Facebook do this all day long. right and left.

Huh? I did that with the OP, so technically it tool 0 replies. The whole story is about identity politics. The video has been released by the Princeton PD as a response to her allegations of being humiliated and mistreated in connection with her arrest on account of her "blackness."

In reality, she was arrested for having an open warrant, just like 100% of other motorists would be. If she didn't want the humiliation of being arrested, she should have not committed an arrestable offense. I love how the cops even tried to prevent her from being humiliated by moving to the side of the car, where she was less likely to be seen by passersby. But of course, nothing is good enough. I bet those cops wish they dropped her, cuffed her and impounded her car. And that is the real loss here....the next time, those cops probably won't be so accommodating and polite.

Wow, I watched the video and those cops brutalized her because she was black. Time for another Million Man March on Washington I guess.:sunglasses: If well educated people try and play the race card with so little regard for the truth, then racism in the eyes of Blacks, in this country, will never go away. MLK's,"I had a dream" wasn't about getting away with breaking the law, I'm pretty sure he just wanted to have his race treated like everyone else. Sickening that a women who's obviously smart could be so dumb.

Actually, I'd bet those cops are thinking "Thank God we went beyond the minimum requirements of respect and civility and captured it on the dashboard camera. We may have to deal with some asshole demonstrators on this one, but it will eventually all go away."

She was stopped for doing 67 in a 45 (Mercer St).

In Princeton, they stop everyone for that. Even white people.

Spot-On. You simply DO NOT speed in Princeton Borough. Ever. You will be stopped doing 26 in a 25 half the time.
