Watching Horizon final between Delaware and UNCW.

Wife.... what's the W?
Me.. ...Wilmington.
Wife... ..I know Wilmington is in Delaware!
Me.... no honey. That's the other team. That's the university of North Carolina at Wilmington. You know,, the City 30 mins north of where we vacation every February and we visit each time?

(Just a heads up for you younger guys on track for this stuff)

It’s impressive she would sit and watch that game with you.

UNCW and our football rival Wagner the only two D1 programs that are the Seahawks.

Visited the battleship in Wilmington during a Golf trip to Myrtle Beach.
was going to do that last year but the day I was going the area around it was flooded. Imagine not being able to visit a Battleship due to too much water OUTSIDE the ship lol.

Wilmington, the only American city to have a successful coup to overthrow elected government

My wife has a hard time differentiating between the Big 10, the NCAAs, Division 1 etc.

For example, "Is Virginia in the Big 10?" (No), "Are they in the NCAA tournament?" (Not this year).. "So they're not Division 1?" ...

Similar conversations all the time...

Wilmington, NC is a fun little town. We are seriously considering retiring to the area surrounding there.
We have friends who let us stay at their beach home on Ocean Isle (30-40 mins south) and others who live a little West in Leland (there's a poster on here that also lives there). We have considered it ourselves but instead just rent down in the area for 6-8 weeks each year. Love the area, love the people.

My favorite exchange with my wife was a few years ago when Wrestlemania was at MetLife.

Me: Wow.
Her: What?
Me: Nothing I just read that Wrestlemania is gonna be in New Jersey this year.
Her: What's Wrestlemania?

I have a friend who lives in Leland, in the same community as the poster here. Another friend lives on Oak Island and yet another friend of mine just moved a bit further south in NC to Calabash. We both want out of NJ.

My favorite exchange with my wife, while the song Dust in the Wind was playing on the radio about a year ago...

Me: "Hey, can you name what band sings this song?"
Her: "Hmm, I should know that. They were popular, right?"
Me: "Relatively popular, not huge"
Her: "Can you give me a hint?"
Me: "Sure...the band is named after a US State"
Her: "Ah, Boston!"

Check out areas that flood down there. Friend of mine lives there and says he's glad he did that beforehand.

These are all questions my wife has never given one ounce of thought to

I'm down in Flagler Beach (fla) for the last 3rd of the annual trip. Literally just ran into a guy coming onto the beach from 30 mins north of me who bowls at the same lanes as I do and know all the same people I know lol. Oakwood in Washington off rt. 31.

Not a beach guy but I have spent 7 days in 7 weeks on the beach. Today is 74 and I couldn't be out there for more than 2 hours. I can already check the box labeled "other Hispanic". (and I do not mean that is a mean way). Love it.

I wish she didn't. :-)

Can you blame her with all of the movement that has gone on? I lose track of where some schools are now.

I don’t know about that coup but there were plenty of others during Reconstruction, most notably in New Orleans.
Presume you are riots that targeted blacks in the immediate aftermath of the civil war in places like Memphis, NO, etc. and we’re not aimed at an elected government. Wilmington occurred 30+ years after the war and 20+ years after reconstruction

Sort of reminds me of a husband and wife on the “Newlyweds Game” many years ago. They asked the wives to name the capital of the state where their husband was born. So one wife answered New York City, she looked clueless. When it was hubby’s turn everyone is thinking he’ll roll his eyes at her not knowing Albany is the capital of New York … well his answer was also New York City 😂. Those poor future kids will end up at Seton Hall or some community college 😉

My favorite Newlywed game answers was the wife who responded to name your favorite rodent and her answer was “saxophone”

I have my eye on Cherry Grove, about five miles from Calabash. Stayed cple times really like the people. Wouldn't want to be any closer to Myrtle than this.

All the time. My wife will ask me during nfl games where did x player go to college, did a NJ player when announcer mentions jersey, decommit from Rutgers, or why do I know what high school in Texas or California a player went to. All sorts of stuff.

Or in everyday life something will come up like a question about Acrisure or other company and I’ll mention they have naming rights on Steelers stadium and she’ll question why I would know that. Especially the group of 6 stadiums
