No teams in the Top 25, after this week. The 2 "best" teams in the conference have royally tanked. One of the weakest main conference this year.

This has been a bad season for teams in the north east and by extension the entire Big East Conference.

Seton hall nova and marquette’s resumes are all good enough to be in.

Johnnies are losing to Xavier, think they are in trouble if they lose.

The conf champion should. If we’re going to let all the mid major champs in, might as well let the Big Easy Tourn champ in

The BE is in a year of transition with a lot of young talent and not many great seniors. As the season progresses the young teams are figuring out how to win and there are no easy games. It is impossible to predict what will happen in the BE tournament or in the NCAA. The games have been rock fights, so it may help or hurt them in the NCAA.

Johnnies now down 10, Xavier without one of their best players.

So in layman's terms, the Big East sucks this year. Got it.

Seton Hall beat Maryland and Kentucky. You don’t think they are good?
----
I always want the Hall to miss the tourney, and they were on the path for that, if they would have lost the last two games.

the thing with them is, that even though they have lost to some mediocre teams, they always have the capability of beating a really good team, if Powell goes off

they could either win the first two or three NCAA teams thrown at them, or lose in the first round.

Nova is going to be really, really good next year. Seton Hall is playing okay with one dynamic scorer and a bunch of role players.

Top 25 is a beauty contest. There have been top 25 teams that didn’t get in. SMU being one

I watched a big east game a couple weeks back, I think it was Xavier and DePaul or Butler. The score was I believe 2-2 with 9 mins to go in the half. I couldn’t turn it off because I couldn’t believe how terrible they both were. And it wasn’t for tough defense, both teams couldn’t stop a drive but each guy looked like they just picked up a basketball yesterday when trying to shoot a layup or jumper. RU this year would wipe the floor with them. There’s about 3 teams in the big east this year fbetter than RU: Nova, Marquette, St. John’s. And Myles Powell. The rest, no they don’t deserve to sniff the tourney. And arguably neither do 2 of those 4. Makes for an easy bracket pickem though if they do

Watch more basketball, absolutely dumbest post of the year. You are literally too stupid to insult.

Okay, kenpom has none in the Top 25 either. Sagarin has Nova at #16 and Marquette at #23, but hasn't factored in the SHU and Gtown losses yet. NET has Nova at #25 and hasn't factored in the SHU loss yet, either.

Forget beauty contest, even the computers don't like the Big East.

Kenpom is the only model that's current right now:
26 - Nova
29 - Marquette
50 - Creighton
59 - SHU
62 - Butler
66 - Xavier
74 - SJU
80 - Providence
87 - G'town
101 - DePaul

Meanwhile in the Big Ten, 11 of 14 teams are 47th or better. With NW (71), RU (73), and Illinois (78) at the bottom end.

The original question was the absurd proposition that no BE belonged in the dance. Yes this year the Big 10
Is stronger, but are you making your point cause ur on this cretinous bus too?

Down year for the BE...lost a ton of talent from last year - Villanova had four first rounders in NBA draft; two coaches moved on, etc. Probably 5 teams get a bid, but hard to see any getting through the first weekend...maybe MU. But two National Championships in last three years; it’s going to happen.

I watched the Johnnies on tv like 3 weeks ago. They had strength of schedule of like 156. They then played Duke. OOC can't be rated that high.

I could swear last year there was a team that went 13-5 in conference but their conference was soooo bad they did not get a tourny invite. What conference was that?

Judging by the ratings the Big East probably only deserves 2 into the tourney being Marquette and Villanova. SHU has been up and down all year. If the BE ever got 4 or 5 into the NCAA the BIG 10 should get 8 or 9. The BIG 10 is way better than the Big East this year. There are only 10 teams in the BE so if they get 4 or 5 in they will get 40 % or 50 % of their teams in. The BIG 10 being so much better should get over 50 % in which would be at least 8 in as we have 14 teams and all 14 are rated really well.

Don't agree with the point that Big East shouldn't send anyone. But arguing that the disappearance of the Big East is because of a beauty contest is off the mark.

This is a down year. But a few years in a row like this, and the conference will definitely start to see fewer bids as it fades to mid major status.

The original post is silly----they are going to get 3 and maybe 4.

St Johns has work to do-----may need 2 wins in the BE Tournament

NET rankings are updated:
26 - Villanova
29 - Marquette
54 - Creighton
61 - SHU
62 - Butler
66 - SJU
71 - Xavier
74 - Providence
76 - G'town
101 - DePaul

So just two Big East programs count as Q1 games at home or on a neutral court.

# of Programs in the Top 50 by conference:
9 - ACC
8 - Big 12
7 - Big Ten, SEC
4 - AAC
2 - Big East, MWC, WCC, Southern, Ohio Valley
1 - Pac 12, MAC, A10, Atlantic Sun

Would be a little crazy if the Big East programs that left the conference to focus on basketball ended up behind the AAC going forward.

Probably one of the stupidest threads on any message board the Big East will probably se d 9 of 10 teams to post season play ( NCAA and nit) . Yes no national champion contenders. Last year the Big 10 sucked should they have not sent anyone.

Love it. Not sure what you all are doing on March 21 or 22nd. Pirates will be playing in their fourth consecutive NCAA tournmanent. Next year looks strong. Enjoy your little debate as IUtakes you to the wood shed.

LOL! You're getting pounded by a marginal bubble team.

That’s a unlikely event. But I guess you can wish for that if it makes you feel better. Many of us hope your team makes the tourney soon.

Nobody was talking about Seton Hall, my point was about the johnnies. That marginal team beat marquette and Michigan State twice.

Shu fans making quips on Rutgers...thats not the topic of thread

The big east is garbage this year
Just saying my man picked a bad day to claim that Rutgers would be the 4th best team in the Big East. E.g. Palm has Indiana behind both Creighton and Gtown in terms of the Bubble.
