OT: Stock and Investment Talk

I have a 30 year old position at 15.
Careful you don’t go round trip by HODLing a non-stonk too long.
Send it in, Jerome! …the sell order that is!
MSFT has paused and retreated a little (now at 400) but is still stonkelicious!
I actually caught a guest analyst today on CNBC brave enough to mention MSFT’s potential in the Search market. Google is still so dominant right now that their day of reckoning has to be coming.

So I bought some VIX puts on Friday.

But how did I not buy some VIX calls late in Aug. Although I thought the "sept volatility" narrative was so prevalent it may have already been priced in, buy some calls when the VIX was at 15 was cheap and easy protection.

I had no idea you could buy options for the VIX. Thanks for the heads up. Would have bought calls when it was $12 in the summer, would have bought puts on Aug 5! :)

Now I know.

Anyone know why WOLF continues to plummet and make 52-week lows? I’m thinking I need to get out before this POS goes bankrupt.

I don't think it is at risk of bankruptcy.....at least as of now. But anything associated with EVs continue to be in the toilet. Ironically, it's on my watchlist for another go. Got stopped out twice already. LOL!
We shall see if I jump back in.

WTI down to $65
Buy more SLB? :)
For energy plays, I have SLB, CVX, and WMB.
I also have Energy Transfer and Alerian in my Roth IRAs. Both have done really well over the past few years.

More importantly, got my quarterly vest of company stock. New money to play with!

FYI - read a few articles about the Saudi's flooding the oil market with production. Don't think I will add to energy positions anytime soon.
I remember some oil guy saying they might do that. I forget the reasoning. Something about the flushing out the market.

I sold a recent SLB add. Still own a decent amount. Its been a dud.

I also own DVN. Sold half of that recently too. Also a dud.

Looks like my SLB is close to the -10% purchase price stop loss. I might let it go if it hits. My other energy plays seem to have performed better over various time windows.

Meh CPI report this morning. We continue to drift downwards with YoY headline now at 2.5%. Let the rate cutting cycle begin!!!!! Most likely .25% cuts for the next year or so of Fed meetings with our destination around the mid-3% range (i.e., neutral).

Toll Bros CEO on the housing market once rates come down "look out".

This is my thought as well. Not just the housing market, but equity loans for home improvements. Lots of pent up demand.

Been eyeing ITB for a while now, hoping for a modest pullback (iShares Home Construction ETF). It covers home builders and HD-like companies. Likely time to start adding shares or leap calls. Probably don't know the area well enough to choose individual winners

MSFT creeping higher. Chart is now in the classic Fibonacci head and shoulders with an AI kicker formation (only CFA level 4 thinkers will understand this). Seems like higher is the only direction this stonk really knows how to go.

Aight so what was the mid day catalyst? I was down more then a % when I left at 11AM, I'm up over a % at 3PM.

Isn't that a bad thing?

Though looking at the chart, I expected more pronounced shoulders. And seems like it wants to break the formation before it begins.

Fibonacci with the AI kicker are key!😉
Fibonacci knew his stuff and was no zero!

Naturally, Tech had an amazing day today. Folks, Ignore the pundits. Keep socking away money in retirement accounts. Month after month. Volatility is the price of stock growth. Stay invested for a long time these daily and weekly panics become background noise.

PPI a little warm this morning. Services continue to be the culprit.

Probably keeps .5 off the table.

Market already has .25 priced in, so pretty flat this morning.

I own some gold and silver miners(copper and uranium as well) and they are up nicely, so I'm in the green early.

Good market reaction to both inflation reports. Onwards to the first cut! :)

Also, maybe time to buy ADBE? Great earnings report but irrational dip due to tiny guidance miss:

Impatient traders? WOLF is a year away from profitability, with one new NY chip production facility and another wafer production facility in NC set for opening next year. So lots of $$$ to construct those facilities, expenses well ahead of potential revenue. I don't see bankruptcy for WOLF. Great potential here for the patient investor.

I thought i heard today’s run may have been fueled by a wsj article suggesting .5 is on the table.

But 2 straight days of slow starts and strong finishes. Thats bullish……supposedly at least.

I wonder if LEAPs are available.

Any issues with cash on hand and having to raise more funds/dilution? If things hit for WOLF, buying at this price would yield epic returns.

I know it's been holding that 160 level. No opportunity for me to get back in. I've been surprised at the ease in which it broke the level which was like 8 year resistance and especially considering the run it was on prior to breaking it. You'd think some breather or pullback but not really much of one.

Now it's been holding it for the most. The last time it actually broke was a couple weeks ago during that drop in the markets where it went down to the low 150s (an actual break, don't consider high 150s a break) but it was only intraday and closed back up in the high 150s later that day. I was almost tempted to get back but I didn't because I'm looking for mid low 140s handle to possibly start to step back in. It's still worthy imo but just considering the prior big run, the ease it which it broke and has held long term resistance is surprising to me.

GEV is another one I'm having a hard time finding an entry point because no freaking real pullbacks also except during that drop in the market. It bounced off its exponential 200DMA (stock hasn't been public for 200 days yet). Seems to be hovering and bouncing around its 50DMA for the past couple months outside of that interim drop.
Doing nicely with GEV. Bought at $160 and today it closed at $215. Buy high sell higher! 😁

And I did bite the bullet and bought GE at $164. I added it to my FS Insights stock basket (it was high on their top stock list). Replaced IR for it.

As the great trader Ty Webb once said while playing golf, “see the stonk, be the stonk.”
MSFT up 4.5% for the week and still well under its all time high. Very stonky indeed.

WOLF has a bit over $2B in cash on hand, but $6B in debt, with operating and construction costs of a $1B-plus for the new NY plant and a $5B-plus for the build of the JP facility in NC. Have to think they'll get some CHIPs Act $$$, but having to recast its application as WOLF is not categorized at a silicon chip manufacturer but is a silicon carbide-based manufacturer. That said, they are certainly a next-gen part of the nation's strategic supply chain. So CHIPs $$$ would be viable. Much foreign interest waiting in the wings, as leverage, or a validation of WOLF's technology.
