You know he is the only real difference between OSU last year and this year. Now compare their offense last year vs this year.

Here is what he been up to in Houston as a HC:

They are currently 4-0

He is currently making $1,350,000 per year.

Staff budget is $2.113 million

Ohio State
On December 9, 2011, Urban Meyer selected Herman as his offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Buckeyes.[6] On December 9, 2014, after leading Ohio State's fourth ranked offense while playing two backup quarterbacks, Herman was awarded the Broyles Award, given annually to the nation's top assistant coach.

Personal life
Herman was born in Cincinnati and still has family there, though he was raised in Simi Valley, Calif. A member of Mensa International, Herman earned his B.S. in Business Administration from California Lutheran in 1997 where he was a cum laude graduate. He was a Presidential Scholarship recipient. At California Lutheran he was an All-Southern California Athletic Conference wide receiver. He also earned a Masters of Education from Texas. Herman and his wife, Michelle, have a daughter, Priya, and two sons, Maddock and Maverick.

The Houston Head Coaching position is normally a stepping stone to their next job. Art Briles from Baylor and Kevin Sumlin from Texas A&M are two recent ones. Herman will probably be there 2 more years.

I think most people viewed him as about as close to a "can't miss" as you can get. He is also an amazing recruiter. His buyout. Is high but I would hope if there was a change his name would be on the list.

I think everyone at OSU expects Herman to be their coach once Meyer is gone
That a a big assumption. Figure Meter has to stay for at least 5 more tears and by then TH will be firmly rooted at a P5 school with a pretty big buyout. Also, who would want to follow Urban? Expectations will be ludicrous.

Will Muschamp?

Herman would be a home run hire. But I think Houston's boosters will be able to match Rutgers' boosters. I think he waits at Houston and leaves for a top 10 type program, Texas maybe.

then we'll take Charlie. Strong would be a much better fit in the run and defense B1G than in the Big 12

Won't know until they try. But, only if they want to make a change of course.

Charlie Strong is a failure, I don't why anyone would want him here other than to keep Rutgers in the dumps.

I think we would be lucky to have Strong. Just because Strong hasn't been well received in Texas doesn't mean he couldn't succeed in the northeast with a pipeline to Florida.

While he won both games, Strong is like the only "good" coach not to beat Flood's teams to a messy pulp. And he had a NFL QB on the roster. And now he's going to fail at Texas. Uh, no thanks.

But he'd have Rettig followed by Russo at RU...

I've liked him since a couple years ago when there were rumors of a possible change coming and most here were on Narduzzi. Narduzzi has had a decent start too btw. I still like Herman but I wouldn't call him close to "can't miss" by any stretch. I'm probably just uncomfortable using that term because you never know. I'd just say he's one of the better mid major candidates out there. I don't include him as a possibility for us if we make a change because of the 2M+ buyout. How many schools would pay that outside of the big names. That's why I consider Fuente the best of the bunch of this year's crop both in general and as it might pertain to us. Btw both of them have their offenses ranked in the top 10 for total & scoring offense.

I think Temple has the easier half of the AAC this year. ECU is probably the toughest competition left while Memphis/Navy/Houston duke it out in the other half. It'll be interesting to see how they do against each other.

I've always said I feel we'd pay 1.5-2.5M for a coach, the usual first contract range for first time P5 coaches. But I'd have to see it to believe it to think we'd pay a 2M buyout so while I like him I don't really think of him in terms of our job but just a good P5 HC candidate in general.

Also posted this last week but Herman bumped some boosters from first class for his lineman. I'd like to think he got the okay but who knows.

From the blog:
I asked Coach if he received any backlash from boosters about the switch and he candidly conveyed he didn’t care because they deserve it. And they’re the ones who help us win football games.
