It's his last year of eligibility... probably not going to NFL...last chance at a pay day...if he wasn't going to get one this year and is able to get paid to play next year....seems like the right move for his future...idk the details though, so idk...
This is why we need contracts.NCAA 14: I was the worst recruiter. I would make every promise under the sun.
Pretty sure I promised 3 different QBs a starting spot in one offseason.
Ultimately (and rightly) they would transfer out.
Amazing that some people just disregard holding "coaches" (I know it's not from the school but they are involved in NIL decisions) accountable for their promises.
Alternatively, we hear never ending "we promised HC Schiano we would do XXXX in his contract and if it's not fulfilled he's leaving" or other demands from coaches.
Could you imagine how quick a coach would leave if he wasn't paid what he was promises?
Need contracts"To everyone who responded to my post. I have a friend who works for Friends of UNILV (their collective), he said they've paid him everything he agreed to, got him a place to live and a vehicle to drive.
He came to them after the first win over Houston and said he needed a better car, they said they would look into it. He came again after the win over Kansas and asked for more money, they said they didn't have more. He asked where his new car was, they said none of the dealerships were interested for the price the collective could afford.
He went to the head coach. Head coach said he can't do anything, school isn't associated with the collective. He thew a fit and quit the team. The collective and university can't say shit, because of future ramifications."
Ouch ! Kid threw his school under the bus . Wonder how practice will go ? LolThey were definitely looking like a strong contender for the G5 playoff spot.
UNLV QB to sit out season after agent says $100,000 promised for transfer has not been paid
UNLV quarterback Matthew Sluka has decided to sit out the rest of the undefeated team’s season because of a dispute over a $100,000 NIL payment that was promised but never paid after he agreed to transfer to the Rebels last winter, Sluka’s agent told The Associated Press.apnews.com

Whoever promised the NIL is the one at fault. That’s it, bottom line. This is a money grab by the player. Transfer from HC to UNLV and is 3-0? On the last year of his eligibility....he's not going pro...so, with him lightening it up, he is going for his last chance to get paid. So, let the bidding begin.
Hate it or not, there is so much money flying around, can't blame the player using this loop hole...quitting before playing the 4 game. Sad reality. 100 UNLV players taking the hit.
There's people who get their economic understanding from propagandists and politicians, people who get their understanding from textbooks and classrooms, people who get their understanding from teaching it their whole lives, and people who don't have a clue, and all kinds of other levels of understanding. If only people understood how the economy works as well as they understand NIL.
people know when things are expensive !There's people who get their economic understanding from propagandists and politicians, people who get their understanding from textbooks and classrooms, people who get their understanding from teaching it their whole lives, and people who don't have a clue, and all kinds of other levels of understanding.
Thing is, the economy, these days, is so vastly complex, with so many moving parts, that I'm pretty sure nobody fully understands how the economy works anymore. Which is probably why even expert economists often disagree about economics.
Yeah, but something like 99% of the people whose reaction to stuff being expensive is to point fingers at others don't really have the faintest idea why things are expensive. Because those people got their economics lesson from political propaganda. 🙂people know when things are expensive !
I think he threw for a combined total of 318 yards in 3 games. I think if he played the season out and improved on that he could have used his redshift next year with another program for even bigger $$$.Then again, if your best completion percentage of the season is 47.1% and have a total of 21 completions after 3 games, why are we having this conversation?
Like I said above, it’s he said-he said. This is why you need transparency which is good for all parties. So UNLV is saying the NIL was only $12,000 or even $3,000.
ProbablyAny chance this Sluka kid ends up at Frootloops next year?
Or a pool hustler:So he had a contract and after a some success he immediately wanted to renegotiate and look for a pay increase instead of fulfilling the length of the contract?
Sounds like he has a future in head coaching…..
I wonder if it will be hard to out recruit UNLV for the next decade. They had more to lose and they lost it.
Coach will deny he made the offer. That’s why it’s important to get things in writing.I wonder if the assistant coach made an offer, he did not have the authority to make.
If he did make the offer and it is proven, is it possible that UNLV will have to pay it even though the player left?
"You sure that's not just a roll of 1's with a 20 wrapped around the outside?"Or a pool hustler:
