Perfect…that might be the best possible name…The Washington Pork
Should we care?..........Oh wait.......crap.........sorryOffensive to religions that don’t eat pork
You insensitive bastard!Should we care?..........Oh wait.......crap.........sorry
This is correct.I think that name is still owned by somebody. Infact, I'm pretty sure the USFL is supposed come back in the spring with the Jersey Generals as one of the teams.
Generic? How many pro sports teams are named the Commanders? Commander is a high rank in the Navy. I'm good with it.I've heard about two separate sources indicating Washington Commanders. I hope it's not that. That's as generic as Cleveland Guardians in MLB.
Solid middle management. Equivalent of a lieutenant colonel.Generic? How many pro sports teams are named the Commanders? Commander is a high rank in the Navy. I'm good with it.
actually the Guardians are not as generic as you think.I've heard about two separate sources indicating Washington Commanders. I hope it's not that. That's as generic as Cleveland Guardians in MLB.
Meh. There were better choices.Washington Football Team officially renamed Washington Commanders, ending a search that took more than one year
The Washington Football team revealed its new name on Wednesday.www.cnbc.com
A lot of the names that were under consideration had domain names registered. That is why everyone thought Admiral's rumor came from. This was leaked days ago when the domain name was registered.
alliteration -- the team started as the Baltimore Bullets. They should have gone with the “Bullets” - how the F was that name ever used for the NBA team!
Yes. Washington long had a Navy Yard. I understand the city was placed where it was because it was the furthest up the Potomac that could be reached by ocean-going vessels. Georgetown, which was then a separate village, was too far because of rapids in the river. Can naval vessels reach DC? "Generals" makes more sense. They need something and fast - their franchise and fan base seem to be in a state of rapid decline. Apparently, they abandoned a stadium in DC that was always sold out with a waiting list to move to a suburban stadium and have had problems drawing a crowd ever since.
Does @Source know you're doing this? 😝The nickname "Redskins" was adopted when the team was in Boston, its original location. It was named the Braves when it started in 1932 in imitation of the Boston Braves. (A number of teams, * including the New York Giants, have names derived from the local baseball team.) The following year, the name was changed to Redskins. This combined the names of the Red Sox and the Braves. The name stayed when the team moved to Washington, D.C. in 1937.
Yes, there was. There was also a New York Yankees football team, but it was part of the deceased All-America Football Conference in 1950 and 1951.Does @Source know you're doing this? 😝
* That's why it says "THE NEW YORK FOOTBALL GIANTS" on one of the endzone banners at the Stadium.
There was a Brooklyn Dodgers football team way back when as well.
That’s why I only went with the Dodgers since they were an NFL team at the time.Yes, there was. There was also a New York Yankees football team, but it was part of the deceased All-America Football Conference in 1950 and 1951.
God, you can be an asshole! 10% of a very large number of people is still a lot of people…dumb ass! STFU with your political talk.It offends those who are easily offended. You have always fit that category.
That was one of my first thoughts, along with Commas. (for all you punctuation fans!)In this political climate, about half of the public is going to be calling them the Washington Commies.
Don't laugh at the AAC. That's where the original Cleveland Browns originated. (The Cleveland Rams had just left for Los Angeles.) The San Francisco 49ers and original Baltimore Colts also started out as AAC teams. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All-America_Football_ConferenceThat’s why I only went with the Dodgers since they were an NFL team at the time.
All true. It's also true that Rutgers head coach Jack Wallace (1924-1926) signed on to coach the American Football League New York Yankees for part of its 1941 season (there were four unrelated American Football Leagues between 1926 and 1969 that competed with the NFL).The nickname "Redskins" was adopted when the team was in Boston, its original location. It was named the Braves when it started in 1932 in imitation of the Boston Braves. (A number of teams, including the New York Giants, have names derived from the local baseball team.) The following year, the name was changed to Redskins. This combined the names of the Red Sox and the Braves. The name stayed when the team moved to Washington, D.C. in 1937.
That I knew too.😉Don't laugh at the AAC. That's where the original Cleveland Browns originated. (The Cleveland Rams had just left for Los Angeles.) The San Francisco 49ers and original Baltimore Colts also started out as AAC teams. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All-America_Football_Conference
Lol. Ok. If 10% of people being upset is enough reason to change then pretty much everything needs to be changed. Find me a statue or monument that doesn’t piss of some groupGod, you can be an asshole! 10% of a very large number of people is still a lot of people…dumb ass! STFU with your political talk.
For you to think, “it doesn’t offend me that a professional team uses a derogatory term for a certain ethnicity (that is not mine) as their nickname, therefore nobody else should be…. Including those of the race/ethnicity being insulted” is pure ignorance.
Ignorance is no excuse. People like you suck!
