OT: We are safe from earthquake

Thanks for getting back to my earlier inquiry - I know you're a few hundred miles from the epicenter, but 7.8 is a big number.

Hi Guys!

The earthquake was about 300 miles north of us and we didn't feel it. The town of Kaikoura was pretty much destroyed. 2 dead at last report. It is (was) a beautiful resort town.

Just talked to Skillethead Jr. He wanted to know if this was a scam to scare off Americans from trying to immigrate.

I thought you guys had pretty stringent immigration already?

That Christchurch quake wasn't all that long ago, was it? is it unusual to have them there this frequently?

Critters are good as well, although they were running around a lot.

Hey, we've got our own earthquake problems here in the USA.
The shock waves are brutal.
You won't believe who is our president-elect.
BTW, how tough is it for one to emigrate there from the USA ?

Don't know about NZ but not to difficult to come to Vietnam if you can line up a job first and it's like living in Miami, just way cheaper.

Is 7.8 the most powerful jiggle that NZ has experienced since records have been kept.?
Don't know. But a big factor in how powerfully they are felt is the depth. (I didn't know that before moving down here. The more shallow, the more powerful. Had this one hit near a city, it would have been devastating.

Yeah. Not this big, but small ones are a daily occurrence. But not down here so much. I've felt two since we've moved to NZ (in Dunedin). I was on the 13th floor of a building in Wellington a couple years ago when a moderate one hit. A little bit scary.

Was there an election?

Thanks for the kind words and thoughts, guys!

Let me know when you're going. I volunteer to drive you to the airport free of charge.

Thanks, but all I want from you is your disdain.
It makes my day.
You have no idea how much I appreciate it. But then the world is full of things of which you have no understanding.
Thanks again.

Where's that famous sense of humor thing the left claims as theirs alone?
