OT: Whatever happened to oldman87?

Should I feel badly that I remember the name but not really any of his posts? Could be a function of being way less active on the boards the past couple of years or growing dementia. When was the last time he posted? if it was pre-new-board, we don't even have a record of his posts, unless the way-back machine saved a few...
There are two types of bans. One that just stops you from posting (you can still view, PM, etc) and one that pretty much takes everything away. Most people are just banned from posting unless they start being a problem behind the scenes as well.
Well, just to add to internet creepiness: Search here shows his last 30 or so posts were in Nov 14 (?). Mostly boring WBB and women's soccer stuff. Not one zinger. I must say, if search is correct, he certainly left with a wimper and did not live up to his rep.
Unless the evil,sinister, mysterious hand wiped him from all memory banks - tin foil hat time. Carry on.
Speaking of being banned... I am now unbanned after 2 weeks (said something on LOI day about the recruits that got me banned), woohooo!

You had been a very reasonable poster and a good read for a while before that.
Didn't say I stopped. Stats say 64 threads started in the last ~60 weeks (since the beginning of 2015), which is about one thread per week and probably 1/3 of those were weather threads. I definitely used to start more threads than that and make more posts. Let's put it this way: 5 years ago, I wasn't that far behind bac and NUTS in posts and now I'm way behind - probably only had 2000 of my 28,000 in the past 3 years. Can't see how many posts I've had since the new board - is that available?
Not sure either.
But if there is a way, I'm sure you'll find out and start a thread about it.

Ha ha. I wish I could be as incisive and funny as @oldman87. Alas, I'm neither and I'm way, way too verbose to be him. Also, I recall he was pretty far left of center whereas I'm pretty center of center and only stray to one side or the other if it helps to irritate folks over on the CE board.
I can't speak to his animal husbandry (pun intended) as I don't recall him ever voicing an opinion on the subject one way or the other. I'd like to think he loves sheep too, the furry little snuggle-bunnies.
Some, however, were re-banned under the new format the minute it was found out that they were posting again. Fact.
I created that board handle (mild one) as an impulsively sarcastic thing since (a) I'm sarcastic and (b) I'm not particularly mild. One of my college roommates nicknamed me Taz for the Tazmanian Devil cartoon character for my not very mild personality. Although I was a lot younger then.
It never occurred to me that people would fail to see the two words (mild and one) and, presumably due to the lack of capitalization, would instead Frenchify the board handle.
Like my humor, a lot of stuff I do just doesn't work as intended. :)

On a serious note, is the issue with mobile phones and long threads (I recall people saying they had to manually scroll through all the posts to get to the end, which would suck) still an issue on the "new" site? Reason I ask, is we now have some much longer threads than we used to (the one-liner thread and some of the other OT threads) and I don't see people complaining on those. I don't have a smart phone, so I wouldn't see an issue.
I would say the amount of snow at your house has caused dementia...but this might be a better description of what happened to mildone
Probably 4 or 5 times in total over 4 to 5 years. A 1 banning per year average is pretty good in my book. ;)[thumb2]
I started a thread on LOI day declaring that I was very unhappy with the current recruiting class and expected the staff to do better especially at WR (since they ARE recruiting for a high powered spread). I wasn't expecting a banning since it was on the free board and not on the premium board (where they're more sensitive to that kind off thing).
But I guess I shouldn't have done it on LOI day. Oh well... The bright side is my productivity at home and work increased. So it's all good! :)

That is true. But only the most egregious offenders, those who were considered outcast and unclean, who were on the FBI's most wanted list, who had pissed in JO's cornflakes, who were rumored to have left the toilet seat up, etc. were targeted.

Oldman87 was the most annoying poster ever. He is the only poster I had on "ignore" status so I never missed him. Hope he's Ok though.
