OT- Where do you take your dead batteries for recycling?

They say don't throw away your alkaline and dead rechargeable batteries into the garbage, to recycle them. Where is a place that takes dead batteries? They sure don't make it easy to recycle them.

Home Depot will take them (at least they did a year or so ago). There's usually a large wooden mailbox-like container near the entrance.

Check the yellow pages for a scrap metal dealer. THey will pay YOU for the batteries, metal, wire and so on. THey pay by the pound. I get about $50-100 year from my household trash, but I live by myself. It is not a lot but it is better than nothing and it keeps the scrap out of a landfill. I recommend everyone does it.

The Best Buy in Bridgewater has a bin for rechargeable battery recycling. I would guess that other Best Buys would also have them.
