OT: Will The Corner Tavern ever come back/will owners sell?

I highly doubt "80%" of this board was in college around 1978. I'd say MOST of us were i school early/mid 80's to mid 90's.
I would consider early to mid 80’s as ‘around that time’ yes.

I mean keep in mind I wasn’t born until 89’ so ya’ll are all old heads to me🤣👍🏾

Bro….’78 and mid-90’s is a big difference lol!

I started at Rutgers in ‘78. Drinking age was still 18. First semester, I got a job bouncing and bartending at the Rutgers Pub (Rusty Screw Tavern). It was downstairs in the College Ave student center. The place was legendary. Live entertainment 5 nights per week. I worked the door most nights. Junior year, started working at the Knight Club. More legendary times!!! Man, college was fun!!!

Any chance that anyone on this board was spending time in either place during those times??
I started in 81 and the drinking age bounced up to 19 that year and that place was still great. Thursday nights were for the Cook-Douglas pub but any other night College Ave student center was hopping.. so many good bands, but the cheap pitchers of beer likely helped.

The band/music scene at the Pub was crazy. Yasgur's Farm, Skin Davis, and on and on and on. Man, we were lucky to be growing up with all that live music!

Wasn't there in the '70s but did go to the College Ave Pub a lot in the '80s. Recall Thursday nights there would be a long, long line at prime time. Once you had a hand stamp though you didn't have to wait in the line to reenter. A few of us would show up at about 7pm to get our hands stamped and then go hit a strip club before returning a couple hours later and skipping the line. We were always pretty proud of our ingenuity.😁 A few years ago I was going through a box of old stuff and actually found my pub card. I recall you needed to have a pub card to get in (or be a guest of someone who had one)?

And the cost of the pub card was one dollar. And it was good for life!!

Favorite bands from that era were Urban Blight and Cheater Jones........Cheater Jones used to play frat parties all the time but also played at the Court Tavern a lot.

Guys, for my first marriage (1993), my fiancé and I were talking about music for the wedding. I told her about Alan and she gave me the ok. I tracked him down, spoke to him, and he agreed to play at our wedding. He was amazing!!! Marriage…was not so amazing.
Well, I’ll only share what my good friend would say when learning that a couple had split or was getting a divorce: “I’m sorry if you are.” Glad the music was good though!

Yeah Man!

Anyone remember Alan Ruda playing on the occasional Saturday night?

Alan Ruda today:

Dude, you unearth the best stuff! 😁
He and his family lived behind us years ago in Middletown. He babysat for us too once or twice.

His father (or his uncle, I forget) was a butcher in Red Bank.

Maybe because they had one of the nastiest bathrooms ever.
Was it Old Queens or the Knight Club with graffiti that lasted for years, 1980-1985?
