A voice of reason.
In the mean time, don't buy into all of the silly rumors. It is going to take a while before a coach is announced.

"Anytime the Scarlet Knights have prioritized speed over a comprehensive search, it has blown up in the face of the Athletic Department. When Gary Waters was fired from his position as head Men’s Basketball coach, Bob Mulcahy did not conduct a national coaching search and instead promoted assistant Fred Hill, Jr. The next decade plus of Rutgers basketball have been a disaster, and Eddie Jordan was rushed into into the head coach position without being fully vetted. But Pat Hobbs took his time (nearly two weeks) and found Steve Pikiell to lead the program back to respectability. "

"Remember when Greg Schiano—the favorite son—left just days before signing day to lead the Tampa Bay Buccaneers? What was prioritized during that coaching search? Saving a recruiting class. So, after trying to sway Mario Cristobal, Tim Pernetti promoted assistant coach Kyle Flood. That turned into a scandal-ridden embarrassment.
Even Pat Hobbs only took six days before landing on Chris Ash. And we are still witnessing how that turned out."

Hobbs cannot make this hire on his own. He also cannot rely on advice from our top boosters as they are NOT football people.
If Schiano is willing to give it all he has and wants the job, then its a no brainer.
If not, Hobbs needs to consult with football minds in the Big 10 Conference along with top NJ high school coaches and other respected current and former power5 coaches.
If we make another bad hire we will not recover.
That's a given.

This is all true but any experienced AD has a short list of coaches in mind. Especially when everyone knows your coach is on a short leash.
I know there is still a lot of football to play but, in actuality this season can’t end fast enough.
Hobbs can take as much time as he wants. If he comes up with a winner it sure would go a long way in stopping the bleeding. If not the hits are going to keep coming.

-HE ALREADY SAID HE IS NOT DOING THAT.

He also cannot rely on advice from our top boosters as they are NOT football people.
--WHAT? GREG BROWN?

If Schiano is willing to give it all he has and wants the job, then its a no brainer.
-MOSTLY AGREE, BUT IT ALSO DEPENDS ON THE ALTERNATIVES AND IF GREG'S REQUESTS ARE NOT UNREASONABLE

If not, Hobbs needs to consult with football minds in the Big 10 Conference along with top NJ high school coaches and other respected current and former power5 coaches.
--HOBBS GOT SKEWERED FOR TAKING THE ADVICE OF URBAN MEYER AND BARRY ALVAREZ. NOT HAPPENING. TOP NJ HIGH SCHOOL COACHES--AGREE

DISAGREE.

Even SMU recovered (back in the top 25)it took them 30 long years but they recovered.Thats from
the death penalty. Let’s just get the right guy and start to turn this thing around. Hopefully without losing any more players.

That’s great, if there’s a better candidate than Schiano I can’t wait for him to be announced! Find it hard to believe but I’m all ears.

Need to make a move sooner rather than later. The University is looking for a new president and IMHO Barchi has been good for athletics. The next president may not be. We know what we have now but know nothing of what the future will bring.

Yes, absolutely PLEASE no advice from anyone in the Big Ten. They all would love nothing for RU to continue as bottom feeders and an easy win for them each year.
Disagree. It's not representative to the Big10 to have a bottom feeder lose by 40 points to everyone in the league week after week. It's embarrassing.

Well ideally not to our extreme under Ash. We've made other conference bottom feeders look good in comparison for sure.

if he is going to take his time why would he fire a coach so early ij the season? He should have been having back channel conversations while Ash is still coaching

I disagree. Take that advice, consider it, and do the exact opposite.

While many on this board think that Hobb's is an idiot, there in no way when he decided to FIRE Ash on Sunday morning that this was the first conversation he had with the BOG and all of those associated with the new hiring.

I am sure there have been conversations about a list of candidates and what type of budget would be needed to fill the HC position and hire a competitive coaching staff.

How often are these back channel communications reciprocated while there's a sitting coach....any sort of unwritten rule most coaches would abide by? Also how often would an AD actively and aggressively pursue these back channel communications before he's fired a coach? There may be exceptions but does anyone really know what the norm is in how this would actually play out with a sitting coach? I'm guessing most like myself don't really know.
