Pikiell is the real deal and I hope recruits are noticing. The difference on the floor between this year's team and last year is startling. Unlike EJ's teams, we now see Pikiell's imprimatur on the court -smart timeouts to stop opposing runs, correct defensive lapses and poor efforts; fundamentals like boxing out on defense ; effort, especially on defense rewarded with playing time ; out of bounds plays that result in easy baskets; in-bounding press plays (witness the Miami game ); more deliberate and better play against the zone defense; unselfish play on offense ; helping out each other when man defense breaks down ( although I thought Morgan State was Rutgers' poorest defensive effort) ; half time adjustments, etc. I'm sure others will have their own additional observations ......

While I tend to agree, we will still need to see how the team does against the real competition this season.

One early test will be SHU where we have been blown out 2 years in a row. prior to that there were 8 games in a row that went to OT or were decided by 6 or less points.

The upcoming games are:
Central Conn St - 2 and 4 with wins over Hartford and Maine
Stonybrook - 2 and 5 with wins over Hampton and Northeastern
FDU - 2 and 5 with wins over FDU Florham and Lipscomb
Fordham - 5 and 4 with wins over NYIT, FDU, St Peters, Lipsscomb, and Rider
SHU - 5 and 2 with wins over FDU, C Conn, Iowa, Quinnipiac, Columbia

Thought we were really good our first 5, played mediocre v. Hartford and @UM, and regressed a bit more in the Morgan State game.

Very interested to see how our next four go.

I am a big fan of what I see thus far from Coach P. Big fan.

I like how I saw Hobbs take a marker board and go over to Sanders when he was sitting on the bench. Something I never saw the past 3 years.

Biggest pure improvement is having 10 guys that can be trusted. In most of the games going to the bench has seen little drop off and sometimes even expanded the leads. He has the option to play small with 3 guards , which he has done a lot in the last 3-4 games or go big . Having Corey, Nigel, Mike, Deshawn, and either CJ or Candido in the game at crunch time seems like the best overall offensive and defensive five we have but can get production out of the other guys as well.
Last year and almost every year in the last 10 years, the minute we went to the bench there was a huge drop off. Hopefully , we will never have that problem again!! Amen!!!

I agree with you entire post

I also believe that I have already seen enough to know that Pikiell is the real deal.

I like what I see thus far but I will with-hold judgment until after the Seton Hall game on 12/23 at The Rock.

I have seats right across from the RU bench.
Will pay close attention to not only the game itself but to the RU bench.

His first accomplishment was putting together the best group of assistants since Wenzel's Van Gundy and Jordan team.
Money helped, especially $300,000 per assistant for Hobbs and Knight. Something that was never done before.

Agree with all points especially the assistants any one of them would be better than our head coaches in the past.

All I needed to see was the team take the floor and see how they looked, and about 2 minutes of play to realize he was a huge upgrade.

That is going to be an interesting game.
