Politi: AD Patrick Hobbs is the most influential person in New Jersey sports

One thing I like about Pat is that he a realist:

"It's difficult to speculate (on the future)," he said when asked where Rutgers might be in 10 years, "when six of the last seven ADs were fired."

"The opportunity we have in the Big Ten stage is tremendous," Hobbs said. "We have the opportunity to write one of the great stories in college athletics. That's not just in football and basketball, but in all of our sports."

"The challenge is greater than I expected," Hobbs said, "and the opportunity is greater than I expected, too."

I know some criticized his hiring initially because he is politically connected. Unfortunately at RU, that almost becomes part of the AD's job description in order to maximize success. Hobbs has shown the positives of political connection so far.

AD Hobbs gets an A+ for that which he has accomplished thus far. I can envision him receiving a A+++ in the future.

Rutgers was a hot mess and is now in the right direction. I couldn't be happier.

The dark clouds lifted when Barchi axed Julie and Hobbs was hired. I'm a cynic by nature but starting to really believe we can make it BIG.

It also helps that Barchi is leaving soon and someone set him straight regarding e B1G in all areas and the benefit of good . athletics. Nice of Politi to wake up but that in a great part is due to Hobbs' personality, good political contacts and his ability to effectively communicate. Simply stated the man is intelligent, sharp, well organized and knows how to deal with people and the press. Can't ask for anything better. Would love to see him as Rutgers next next president but it would be a big loss for the athletic program but a great boost for Rutgers overall. It could happen!

Finally we have an AD we can be proud of but I still liked TP warts and all.....at least we knew he loved RU which is important to me...we've had a history of eating our own.
