Pikes getting paid ALOT of money to figure these things out. Schiano went out and raised MILLIONS from folks to not even associated with RU and its resulted in a very good portal haul, player retention, and solid HS recruiting. Its time pike do the same. He needs to pound the pavement and start raising money like GS has

Schiano gets bashed here weekly as well especially in season. Have you ever attended a court club meeting ? I did and I heard Pike tell that group of people how important NIL was moving forward and you got crickets from the room. There was no enthusiasm for it JUST LIKE HERE. NIL gets bashed daily but now you want him to create miracles while other fanbases who make a ton less money get it done. Our diehards are diehard about commenting on message boards and bashing players and coaches.

Rutgers handed out greater than a 50% raise to Schiano for mediocre performance and then a huge raise and extension to the OC for one year of a decent performance. It's the Rutgers way (and not unique to Rutgers). ADs and their knee-jerk reaction to the slightest whiff a coach "might" leave triggers ridiculous raises and extensions. And raising the salaries of the coaches cuts into the NIL fund. IDGAS what other coaches are making. If you can't live on $2M-3M/year in NJ, you have a spending problem.

The issues with this stem from the decision to go after Harper and Ace. We have a coach that builds a program on defense and we were throwing that all away. Everyone is complaining now, but no one disagreed with Pike going that route (except one person)
He’s also put in serious work on correcting his FT woe, unlike others on the squad. Last few games has looked much, much improved.

Its going to be up to Pikiell to burn everything down and start making these guys be accountable to themselves and their teammates and to the program. It starts by taking control. Pike has to be accountable to himself and the program. Its obvious his apporach has not really worked. If nothing changes expect more of today. Pike has let the inmates run the asylum. Part of the reason this stupid game was scheduled in the first place. No upside to playing 4 creampuffs at home then throw your team out to a hostile bandbox for its first road game. To make matters worse, Vegas is next. Learning experience and needing this loss. well those are cliches but yeah well it applies here. Ace had a subpar game given his ability. His youth and immaturity showed. Yes the stars showed late and there was a chance at a last shot but yet maybe the most important lesson will be learned from Ace. Cannot hide youth, cannot hide have not been there and it showed in that very last possession. Problem is he is only here for one year so this isnt a case of saying well when Ace is senior he will take and make that game winning shot. It will have come in the next few weeks.

1 or 2 losses is squandering? Go back to the thread on Politi's article and players vs team and consider how early in the season those losses were.

The one and done players are seemingly the only ones capable of executing Pikes iso offense, I don’t see how the excuse is that this season is somehow thrown off the rails because of the one and done players.
Rather have him be engaged on the defensive end, being on the balls of his feet and boxing out when a shot goes up and miss all his FTs.
Accountability and the 2 stars made clear defense wasn't going to be part of the teams mindset. Its irrelevant the defense has got better. We are judging it vs an atrocious beginning
Fact is its comical this team was ever ranked. Playing time was guaranteed based on press clippings rather than actual work.

Not a mirage, just a wildly inconsistent team. When it all comes together you get Bama, A&M, Penn State (at the RAC), Columbia, UCLA, Nebraska. If Dylan gets healthy we will get a few more of them probably. But when it doesn't, you get St Peter's, Kennesaw, Seton Hall, Princeton, Purdue.

never was going to be easy with the schedule the way it was. Pike showing accountability could have kept millions of dollars out of these players pockets. My issue was more with Ace in terms of defending and playing hard vs. Dylan.

Exactly..i said as much early on..thats why those automatically saying we win all these games with a healthy Harper are comical...team is what is...wildly inconsistent. Thats not changing even though people seem to be grasping at desperation

I agree with you completely and it needs to stop. Of course, first we need a president, then we need an AD, then we need a coach. The shit show just keeps getting worse. We used to blame the league we we in but now it’s obvious it’s the incompetence at the top that trickles down and acceptance of mediocrity below that.
I did not make an excuse. Decent teams often lose headscrachters early in the season particularly if their point guard is a freshman. Objetively Dylan getting sick is a major issue. Arguing otherwise is kind of silly. Still is what it is.
We lost with Dylan as well, we were not killing it from a wins and losses standpoint. The issue is the roster construction with the transfers Pike brought in and not bringing in another big to the roster, which will really be exposed the rest of the year as Ogbole is out for the year. This team was disappointing all year. Are they worse without Dylan? Obviously. But that’s not the point, they have been disappointing from the jump with poor defense from the start. Even look at the Vegas week which started with the Kennesaw game. They went 1-3 that week, not a good week outside of some encouraging losses to Bama and A&M. But encouraging losses are still losses. They followed that up with a month of December record of 3-2, with a bad performance at OSU, another bad loss to Princeton and barely squeaking by a really bad SHU team. They went 4-5 from Vegas week to the end of December with a perfectly healthy and uninjured Dylan. This team just doesn’t win, that’s where the disappointment lies. If Dylan were healthy in January would our record be better? Maybe we would have one more win, probably win the @PSU game with a perfectly healthy Dylan. I’ll even take the bait and play along, let’s say that if Dylan were healthy we would have 2 more wins. That would put us at 12-8, and still not going anywhere as far as postseason and still playing the rest of the season with disappointing role player transfers and a lack of size inside. This team has a lot of issues and unfortunately it has been proven out through 20 games that an NBA lottery pick, and even a second one, are not enough to cover up and overcome those issues.
The bigger issue is the roster assembled for this year was obviously fundamentally flawed at best, with the recruiting misses of the last 2-3 years coming home to roost. This year's roster was poorly constructed and managed and it goes beyond NIL. Pike has definitely earned some leeway but I don't get how Schiano gets raked over the coals for shortcomings but Pike gets a free pass.
