SI and several other media outlets are advocating for Pepoers.
They claim he's the best all around defensive player in the country and his stats are meaningless because opposing offenses game plan around avoiding him like the plague.

Did anyone see the stats of McCaffrey in his last few games. He was out 2 1/2 games with injury but he could be the best back in the country Add in his reception yardage. Of course could be a bust in the NFL just like his boys before him: Tommy Vardell, Toby Gerhart, who else?

To me, it's Lamar Jackson and it's not even close.

Great, Jabril Peppers can play 5 different positions on the field at the same time?! Whoohoo. Good for him. He's versatile. Does that mean he should win the Heisman? And, other than Watson, none of the other candidates can even compete with Jackson. They just put them on there to make it some like it won't be exactly the kind of run-away that everyone has been talking about for months.

Then again, I couldn't give a crap about the Heisman. It's a private organization that - for the better part of the last two decades - has only given its award to what it deems to be the top QB or RB in the nation.
