I've flip flopped too much on this decision...but if it's between play-in game and NIT obviously I'd want play-in. I dont think they'd ever say it, but it would be cool if somehow that "pseudo Win" over ohio state actually comes up and helps get us a real seed vs play-in/something else.
If they say "we're looking at full body" just as much as late season play I think we deserve to get in with a main seed.

Would be disappointed, but it is still the tournament after all.
If that were to happen tho, I would definitely pity the team that has to face a pissed off RU team.

Yes because there's still a good chance of a bid stealer that will take away another at large. I'll sign up for Dayton right now.

Rutgers has enouugh quality wins plus the Ohio State fiaSco to earn a NCAA bid. My concern is that Rutgers lacks the respect from the NCAA Selection Committe and the B1G Ten Officials.

Team is better than Dayton
Warriors against top 5 Purdue, while Pitt & Mississippi St get blown out..
even though playing like a 6 seed now, we will get a byed 11, perhaps even a 10. (but 11 may be a clearer path to sweet 16)

I dont think we should be in Dayton but obviously you take that over missing the field completely

we are what we are....19-14 with some great wins, an awful loss, some really poor play after losing a starter. If that is Dayton I cannot really argue with it though IMO we should be non Dayton 11
Not a chance of going to Dayton.

Zero chance even with this f____ed up system. NC and UCLA were what 65 the last two years, and they both got to the final four. That in itself shows how incredibly putrid the whole process is. This was so much better when you would question whether or not two or three teams should have gotten in that didn't. Bracketology based on Net, Kepalm, offensive and defiiency, and the like. It's all BS.

Do we deserve a bye or would you be happy just to get in at this point?

As the approx 45th(?) best team in a 68 team tournament (based on seeding by the selection committee), obviously we deserve a bye.

However, since it's all about "entertainment" then we SHOULD be in Dayton. We have close competitive games that keep interest til the end. For better TV ratings - we probably belong playing an extra game.

If only the tournament format wasn't broken.....

isnt the tv viewership for the play-in games putrid and primarily fans of the teams playing? And most bracket/gambling spots dont even count those games in the bracket tally, right?

Sending Rutgers to Dayton would be a huge slap in the face given that they were sent there last year. I think the whole concept of Dayton, and a "play-in" game, should be eliminated.

I would consider not going if I was them (is that even an option?).

To me, either a team is good enough to get into the tournament -- or it isn't.

If Rutgers isn't seeded into the "real" tournament, I'd tell the committee to take a hike if I was coach.

None of the above, unless more info is added.

I would take Dayton gladly if the alternative is NIT.

I wouldn't sign up for Dayton right now, as I feel we have a better chance of getting in with a bye than missing out entirely.

Barring any surprises (OSU must lose today) RU should just above the bye line
Maybe this is also where ref mishap vs OSU comes into play?? Who knows.
It was more important that they played super tough vs Purdue, jumping them over teams like Pitt, NCST, & Miss St who got crushed in their last game.
Dayton, however, IS still the tournament - it is not a “play-in” game. A bunch have made sweet sixteens & even a few final fours. If RU is put there, you play The teams in front of you. 40 gets you 40.
