I think there is a separate thread on the premium service (which I don't have), but I haven't seen one here so here goes:

Getting into town the afternoon/evening of the 25th and staying in Tempe (Hilton just off of the ASU campus). For those not familiar with the area (I'm no expert, but son went to ASU so I'm not a notice), you can take the light rail from Tempe (blocks from Mill Street - college bars, restaurants, etc.) to within a few blocks of Chase Field. Personally I find this to be much more appealing than staying in downtown Phoenix. I imagine both Tempe and Phoenix will be very quiet, but I'm assuming there will be more activities in Tempe or up the road in Old Town Scottsdale than there will be in Phoenix, even if it's just hanging out and people watching.

Staying at home. F traveling on Christmas.

Olde Town Scottsdale is a great hang. Also highly recommend the Phoenix Botanical Garden not far from there.

One word about the light rail. Not sure if it will be that way going back to ASU, but a year ago this week, the light rail was packed and we could not get on the train to get back to the parking lot we parked in on 24th St by light rail.

I’ll be staying in Albuquerque or somewhere just west of there. Drive from San Diego to NJ will kick off on the morning of 12/26, going to try to make some time through the desert after the game.

This coming from the guy who swore we would not win another game this year after USC game!!!
I was at that USC game and we looked like complete garbage…. No different from the previous week at home vs. UCLA. I gladly ate crow after the next 4 games… as did many others on this Board.
If you can’t see the Defense drop off next year - and a new DC I don’t what team you are following. The only hope is a major addition of Defense talent in the Portal that is B1G level players.

I was at the game also, but I didn’t proclaim in every post, like you did, that RU would not win another game. You are just an overreacting clueless loud mouth looking for attention

I was at the game too. I have a different take on #1 fan. I think he is an extremely passionate fan prone to gross overreaction when RU loses, but he comes back after a while. You see this a lot in the game threads, which I generally avoid.

After get humiliated at home to Wisconsin by losing by 40 points and then getting embarrassed the following 2 games by UCLA at home (who hadn’t won a B1G game) and the beat down at USC there plenty of posters on this Board who said we weren’t winning another game. And it certainly appeared that way so get down from your holy horse.
BTW tru I have been to every Bowl game since 2005 and donate to the Football Program and now NIL every year since. Personal attacks are for wussies. Welcome to the Ignore feature .

Westin downtown. Walking to stadium. Decided not to rent a car.

If anyone is interested in doing a brew tour friday afternoon and or a Sedona tour Saturday from Phoenix message me and I will send you the tour company info that I found.. I tried to sign up for both but neither tour will confirm without minimum number of ppl. and it's only 2 of us. I think the brew tour has a min of 4, not sure on min for Sedona.

No problem if everyone has other plans but thought I would throw it out there. Backup plan is renting a car but that limits beverage consumption, lol.

I have been to every Bowl game including the Garden State Bowl & do all the same that you do, except I don't carry on like a troll at every sign of trouble. I also know who you are Rocco & it does not bother me that you have me on ignore

I'm not laughing at you, I'm laughing at 90% of the game threads. I drop in once in a while just to check it out, but then check out.
Best time to read a game thread is after a win where RU was down early, usually check them out the next day to laugh at the lunatics

I like to do the same, but I am one of the ones you probably laugh at.
By the end of a game that RU was losing when I posted my thoughts, I wind up laughing at myself for posting some of the things I did.😇

Stayed here in 2005. It was super convenient for the game.

However, my roommate and I found the city dead at night aside from the game.
Big commuter city and almost no nightlife or bars.

This was pre cell phones so maybe we just didn't know where to go.

If you’ve never traveled on Xmas you don’t know what you are missing. It’s my favorite travel day of the year. Airports are empty
This .
Easiest Travel day of the year. No lines .. no wait. Quick getting to the Airport as well.
You can have Christmas at home in the morning and later take a late Afternoon nonstop fight to PHX on Delta, Jet Blue, United from any of the NY area airports.

Very few people can say that. I missed the Garden State and the Gator. I would have gone to the Gator but was too worried about logistics, which ended up being just fine. I'm missing this one because I have family commitments on the 25th and 26th. The "time out" likely cost me a bowl trip but I suppose it leaves me with more money to spend on presents, lol.

Have a great trip!!

From the RU Foundation

Thank you for your interest in Rutgers Off the Banks: 2024 Rate Bowl. We are currently finalizing pregame tailgate plans – you will receive an email later this week with details about the location and time. There is not a designated Rutgers hotel so guests are encouraged to stay in one of the many hotels in downtown Phoenix. We look forward to seeing you in Arizona!

Go RU,

Advancement Events

We have stayed at the Scottsdale Resort and Conference Center several times in the past. It is an older hotel, but the grounds are beautiful, and they do a really nice job decorating for Christmas. It has been a while, so check the reviews, but we loved staying at this hotel.
