Ray Rice situation

I feel worse for Kyle Flood and his (larger family) than I do for Rice. He made a lot less $$ and was just doing what he thought was right, but was in over his head. Hope he lands on his feet. A much bigger man than Ray Rice.

I have explained how it is further harming his wife. Rice is being denied an NFL paycheck, & therefore an income for his family. I already stated that I'm not familiar with his financial circumstances, though I'm quite certain that his current employment, if he has any, is providing nothing near what he would realize with even a modest NFL contract & perhaps another following that. If you know facts to contradict this please share them. Rice & his wife's ability to "earn a living again", in some other field, which is what you are suggesting I assume, has no bearing on the issue at hand. Your ability to deny a situation & conflate issues appears to be limitless & I see further discussion of this topic as pointless. As is your wont, please be my guest & have the last word.

Okay so essentially you're mad at the NFL, for "blackballing" Ray, and needed a place to vent, but have absolutely no idea if they are currently in financial trouble or are headed towards financial troubles, hence, you have no idea if this is "hurting" Ray's family.

Thank you, I respect your opinion, and was just trying to get to the bottom of things, that's all.

Let's leave it at that maybe it isn't hurting but sure as hell not helping either.
No one knows his financials but and extra mill or two is nothing to sneeze at

If in fact he was black balled and it appears very possible, then it is unjust no matter how much or how little money you make

if you clock your wife, you deal with the consequences, pretty simple. There are others jobs he can get and he can make good coin for himself.
But if you whip your helpless 4 year old kid, no consequences involved. Gotcha!

Yes Ray Rice is blackballed.. but not by some vast conspiracy. 3 things go into it..

1) VIDEO and the backlash about domestic abuse and the NFL, most of it UNSEEN
2) his poor performance the prior season
3) his age

When you add it all together it becomes.. "just not worth the risk".

Suppose there is a 50-50 chance that Ray Rice has more in the tank and can really help.

Well, there is a 100% chance that the media will crucify you for even considering hiring him.

And even if Ray Rice is better than what you got.. maybe there is a rookie or journeyman out there, sans baggage, that can give you what Ray Rice can give you.

So.. "just not worth the risk".

You hire a guy like that and he becomes a star.. maybe you survive the hiring process. Otherwise, you get thrown to the wolves for hiring a domestic abuser to help reduce the outrage.

As far as Ray and his family.. it is a damn shame. About the only thing he can do is try to make it a positive to hire him. But he should have had a RR team working on that for a long time now. Turn it into a story of a man who reclaimed his life.. and that if you truly repent and change your ways there is hope. That story could have been sold by some very very expensive PR team.

Wonder if the folks blocking Ray Rice from playing in the NFL because he hurt his wife realize that they are further hurting her & their child by preventing him from making a substantial pay day in the NFL.
Good luck and unfortunately he is history per many people that I talked to in the NFL

I wouldn't qualify that as being blackballed. Being blackballed to me would be a top down mandate or collusion amongst owners not to bring on Ray Rice. Every team independently coming to the conclusion that he doesn't add enough value to justify his baggage is not blackballing. It's business in the league.
