Realistic expectations for Rutgers football in 2024

Rutgers will be underdogs against both Virginia Tech and national runner-up Washington. While it’s possible we take one of those games, it is by far most likely that we lose both in the eyes of the general and betting public.
Hello old friend, what was yer name yesterday? Last week?
how bout VTfanNY or RUscared or Rutgersfum or itsRtime...

Take Rutgers and the points.
Washington will be tough to beat straight up , but with a new coach and traveling to the east coast to play at Shi Stadium gives Rutgers a fair chance to pull out the victory and College Football News has the chances of Rutgers winning 50/50 .
VT is the home team when they play Rutgers , but the Hokies are not a powerhouse and Rutgers is a program on the rise.
Some so called experts are giving VT the edge, Schiano's Scarlet Knights will prove them wrong.
Expect a close game , but a RU win
Don’t feed the troll.

Also:

Wash starts with 4-straight at home.
Was okay Michigan the week after us.

….HUGE. Both.

I expect an RU win.

I think to a degree GWs running ability at the goal line was part of the reason for Monangai's lower TD number than Rice. That and Rice was excellent and the OL he had was better the RU's '23 OL.

Corum did so well at Michigan because basically the whole OL was All-B1G.
RU's OL got better but Michigan's OL was just a lock on goal.

Still, a constant for RU is red zone floppery.

2023:

“Really the game in a nutshell was three turnovers and missed red zone opportunities. If you get there, you have to score and it’s hard to win by threes,” Schiano stated in his post game press conference."

In 2007:

"Statistics mean nothing," head coach Greg Schiano said. "Playing the game and winning the game, that's what it is about...We need to figure it out quickly. We put up 500 yards of offense and can't score when you get in the red zone? That's an issue."

It never changes. Even Britt only has 2 red zone TDs

The Vegas over under is 6.5. A lot of fans here sound like they will be disappointed with 8 wins. I'm worried that expectations are too high and we will lose a lot of momentum even if we have a good year at 7-8 regular season wins.

Actually under 8 might seem to be disappointing, but 6-6/7-5 will show the program is not regressing but holding a steady course and with the type of talent coming in now, 8 or more wins can be expected on a regular bases,.
Schiano isn't a quick fix type, slow and steady improvement is his game.
So RU fans might express a want it now attitude, but that's tempered with the reality a fast rise to the top isn't going to happen, but steadily improving the talent on roster ,the nest year or two, will bring results that make us happy.
