Are we in the running for any of the top NJ or NY guys for next year? All we need is 1 or 2 guys to not leave for Duke or Kentucky and stay home for this team to be an NCAA team. I really like our coach and think he can develop players the right way. Even if we don't get the elite guys and we land the 2nd tier guys that will be in school for 3-4 years--i think this team can win with our coaching.

Just curious if Pikiell has anything in the pipeline.

Yes.

While it is still early, if you are a big-time recruit, you can at least point to the start of this season and have some degree of confidence that this coaching staff (Pikiell and Assistants) know what the hell they are doing and won't waste your talent.

In the past, why in the world would you come here? Now, you will be coached well, and if you do what you need to and have the talent, your opportunity to go to the NBA won't be squandered.

Well this certainly gets the excitement flowing !!!

This team would have serious NCAA aspirations if you combine the young nucleus we have now (seasoned by junior/senior year) with just 1 star studded player. That would be the formula for some dancing !

Why the secrecy. I am guessing its 5 star Naz Reid, who visited us for the Michigan football game and who Pike went to see like a week ago.

See Ben Simmons.

One of our mods said we're in with a big recruit but won't give the name because it would jeopardize things for whatever reason.

Pikiell is creating some buzz and I suspect is turning some recruits' heads. Quite a contrast from the disASHster on the FB side. Good, experienced coaching goes a long way. I totally get our SOS sucks to date but all you can do is beat the team in front of you. It will be interesting to watch starting with the SH game.

There was a recruit in the concourse at half time for the FDU game that must have been at least 6' 10'' tall.

I agree. Play the schedule and see what happens. We're winning these games which we didn't do the last few seasons so the buzz is refreshing. Suppose we lost a few of the games, it wouldn't be nearly the same affect for the fans. Keep going, one game at a time.
It looks like we shouldn't really get blown out in the conference and maybe actually win a few. Wait and see.

Realistically, I bet we lose the Hartford, DePaul and Stony Brook games with last year's approach leaving us at a blah 7-4. Improvement is improvement despite the SOS. I'm happy as a long-time season ticket holder. I look forward to the games again.

LOL

Listen Ash had a bad year on the field but we're taking about RECRUITING in this thread , and that there is buzz around the program that recruits are digging, and Ash has compiled the best recruiting class we've seen in 4 years. So there is "buzz" in the football recruiting circles as well.

Just saying.

We are recruiting Reid and are in play for him but that is no secret and that is 18. We are supposedly also in it for a national recruit in the 2017 class. That name I have not seen.

We're making steady progress and with the wins maybe RU is a little ahead of what we expected. Still a lot to play, but maybe time is on our side on the recruiting stage. Kids who had no interest before just might be looking at us as an up and coming team. Winning sure helps.

I rarely have anything to share, but somehow I have heard this as well. A game changing type of recruit. We can hope it sticks.

By now and with what was said in the court club thread, I can assume this is for Reid.

Pikiell has things moving in the right direction. The kid would get better here. His family is originally from Asbury Park I believe.

Not Reid.

Lebron?

My grandma was talking about this recruit yesterday, too. She said she heard it somewhere.

I am sorry, but to go on a thread and just post one thing without giving much background, what's the point? It is like you are playing deal or no deal, or recruit jeopardy. Give some kind of substance, or why give anything?

It is what it is, sometimes people hear things and are asked not to share details. Rarely is that person me, but someone else brought it up so I figured I would chime in that I heard something similar. I tend to be happy to hear, even without details, that RU is doing well with top kids. I understand not everyone feels the same way, and some get annoyed by the lack of detail, but such is life.

Hell, it's recruiting though. I could be a top recruits parent and still be wrong about where they sign.

Edited to add: Frankly, I know almost nothing about basketball recruiting. You could list the top 20 kids in the nation and I would have no idea who any of them are, so I'm just taking the word of someone for how good he is and how solid the info is.

All right. It is just a conversation, and these kids flip so often that I do not see why people won't just drop a name. No one is going to say " Do not go there, they already mentioned your name on the online forum, which says you have a 18% chance of shooting a 3 according to kenporn, and a 37% chance of going to that school, given what the population size of 137 national recruit class"

People like to think they're important. That's really what this thread has turned in to. There is not much value provided form second and third hand cryptic statements to the board, yet, people feel good when they post them.

Not much to see here.

Sojo, I think it is something similar to what you said.

Also, my post was a joke. All the statisticians on the board- I appreciate what you folks post. Gives insight.
