Rob Martin...?

Guys who share some of the IPs that OP's used: Tango Two, JoeRU0304, and RU31trap. This IP search tool is pretty dreadful on this site. Doesn't mean it's any of them or that he's a dual at all. Just throwing that out there.

If he's leaving the program we as fans are going to learn the hard way regarding Ash's inexperience. The problem here is that we have no one with enough experience to question WTF is going on in Ash's head.
Over react much? How about we stop analyzing the twitter musings of a 20 year old college student as it relates to the abilities of our coach. unless you are at practice you have no idea what is going on, so making assumptions based on a tweet seems silly.

The excuse Ash gave about Goodwin eclipsing Martin because Martin was injured and was missing practices was utter nonsense. Running back is the one position where you can miss practice time, step in at game time and still not really miss a beat.

The fact that Ash and Co didn't realize what their players were good at was mind boggling. Seeing them try to make N/S runners go E/W all the time was beyond frustrating.

That is incorrect. Missing practice time at any position is a problem. It is not just taking the ball and running. It is where does their DT line up? What are my protection responsibilities? What are my blitz pick ups this week? Where do their LBs play? etc.

I would not be surprised if any player transfers. We just finished 2-10 with a number of shut outs against us. Any kid that is not a starter is probably looking at his options.

I don't know what may or may not be happening with MArtin. But...if he in fact has not bought in or is missing/skipping practices and meetings...How the hell would it be a blunder for Ash?

If this was the case for Martin and Ash looked past it and allowed him to stay the starter and now Martin was all happy and staying because he got star treatment, wouldn't that be the exact thing everyone was killing Flood for?

this rumor may be put under the file heading..
Where there's smoke there's fire.:(

we've seen this movie before. He's a goner. When they strip their twitter mentions it's over.

I hope Hicks has a bounceback year in him, because we could be awful next year.

not a tweeter...are you saying he took his comments down?

What are you guys talking about? Martin wouldn't transfer when his team is about to excel and he would be a big part of it.

LOL so Ash was lying about Martin's injury? Get out of here with this nonsense!

Nobody shares anything with Tango. He wouldn't allow that. Duplicity and all, ya' know?

Seriously though maybe they all hang out at the same Starbucks.

I remember one day trying to figure out who one guy was that we were having questions aobut, and I run the IP addresses for the account and go "Hey, John O, it says it's you." Definitely wasn't, but I think he lived pretty close to the guy (same general neighborhood).

hahahaha that's great!

Hope not but was wondering about him too. Still not clear on why he wasn't playing more. Thought he was the best talent we had in the backfield. Did he get on Ash's s--t list? (i.e. maybe due to attitude issue?)
He had issues buying In to the system and had attitude issues so he had his playing time rightfully cut. Talent or no talent no player is bigger than the system ash is building.

Even assuming you have inside info, let's point out the following:
1. Martin and Hicks were two of our biggest weapons last year. Are you claiming Hicks had "attitude issues" too? Simply, doesn't ring true.
2. Ash is the leader and the grown-up. If Martin had adjustment issues to an offense that for no apparent reason was not using his talents, it was Ash's job to help him work through them.
3. You write "no player is bigger than the system." What system is that? At this point, Ash and Mehringer have mere words with no system that remotely worked. Why would you throw overboard Martin and Hicks and put in a system that doesn't use the talent you have?

If this is true it will be Coach Ash's first serous blunder. I thought Martin was the best RB on our team? Martin will be picked up in a minute by another D1A school. Next season we will have nothing on that field. How could Hobbs sit back and watch this happen. Dam it!!
Did Ash cause the inappropriate attitude?

Very true. In fact it is understated how common it is for fans like us to mistake cfb athlete tweets about girls to be tweets about football

I'm pretty sure following tweets from teenage football players is slightly more pathetic than posting about tweets from teenage football players, which, in turn, is slightly more pathetic than reading about tweets from teenage football players on a sports forum. So, I'm two levels less pathetic than folks following tweets from teenage football players.

I think there's a lot of assumption-making going on in this thread. Martin was injured. Period.

No. I saw him playing on special teams and not playing at RB. He's our best RB. What kind of injury would keep him from carrying the ball but playing on special teams ?
I'm gonna be real disappointed if I don't see him get a significant amount of carries next year.

Ash flat-out stated that he wasn't healthy enough to take then necessary reps to get the carries at RB. Until we find out otherwise there's NO reason not to believe the guy. Some of you are acting like JG did a bad job OR that having Martin take all those snaps, while injured, would have made a difference in ANY game. Guess what? NOT!
