RU Endowment Jumps to $1.476B, Jumps 11 Spots

RU is now 71st in endowment size, up 11 spots from 82nd a year ago. RU along with Maryland passed Nebraska who is now last in the B1G but 76th overall. RU is 12th in the B1G and should pass Iowa next year who is 69th. We also passed Lehigh, Delaware, and Cuse this year. I could see RU threatening for the Top 50 in about 3-4 years at this rate. Tremendous growth!!

A few years ago Penn State reclassified some assets that were more operating related to endowment which caused them to jump in the rankings so they could thump their chest more. I believe if RU pulled the same move they would add another 400 million or so.

Sadly, it's not just chest thumping. Many of the college ratings surveys give plus points for endowment size, which seems dubious to me.

When I came to Rutgers to start my PhD in 2005, the endowment was just around $550M, so in 15 years it's jumped by almost a billion dollars. Not too shabby, and I feel we're just getting underway here...
