Michigan comes to town Super Bowl Sunday with a 10-2 dual meet record (probably 11-2 after Friday's match against Maryland) and 5-1 in Big Ten meets with their only loss last week to Penn State 35-7. Previously they defeated Ohio State 21-11, Oregon State 27-9, Illinois 25-14, Central Michigan 22-12, Indiana 33-6, Northwestern 39-6, West Virginia 21-12, Hofstra 31-9, Sacred Heart 47-3 and Michigan State 39-6. They lost to Oklahoma 23-12.

They have a solid lineup with 8 ranked wrestlers out of their 10 wrestlers. The team is ranked 8th in the nation and we have to bring our A game to beat them or have a chance to beat them. Maybe Donny can weave his magic with personal intelligence about Michigan. They are all key bouts but 125, 133 , 141 and 157 are high profile matchups. AP needs to give us bonus points at 165 and Gravina at 184 has # 8 Dominick Abounader in a bout we probably need to win to pull an upset. Against PSU Max Huntley at 197, ranked # 6 in the nation did not wrestle # 1 ranked Morgan McIntosh of PSU and Michigan forfeited that weight. I don't know if Huntley was hurt, sick or they did not want to risk a loss for seeding purposes down the road. We will see Sunday.

Lineups
125 McCabe # 20 vs Connor Youtsey # 20
133 Giraldo # 19 vs Rossi Bruno # 16
141 Ashnault # 6 vs George Fisher
149 Dippery # 29 vs Alex Pantaleo # 6
157 Lewis # 14 vs Brian Murphy # 9
165 Perrotti # 6 vs Garrett Sutton
174 Bakuckas # 36 vs Davonte Mahomses # 13
184 Gravina # 18 vs Dominick Abounader # 8
197 Hrymack # 37 vs Max Huntley # 6
285 Smith # 11 vs Adam Coon # 4

Hopefully this will be a great meet.

Also of note is Davonte Mahomes had to injury default against PSU. I didn't see the match and have no idea the extent of his injury.

Michigan matches up pretty well against us. Going to need several upsets to win this one.

Particularly looking forward to the Lewis/Murphy, Gravina/Abounader McCabe/Youtsey and Giraldo/Bruno matches.

I wish this was the Friday night match. I can get out Friday night, Sunday I'll be watching on BTN plus.

Bak is overdue to pull off a mild upset. This would be as good a spot as any. $$$$

Rutgers has to win the 2 tossups (125 & 133) and the 1 of the slight underdog matches (157 & 184)

and

Bonus points from AA or AP
It is a big task, the team has to come out strong.

Nice preview WNG...Huntley failed his skin check last week against Penn State so have to think he probably has that cleaned up. As for Mahones he was basically carried off mat against PSU. It looked pretty bad and it happened to a knee that he previously injured. Be very surprised if he wrestles this weekend. Here's the PSU/Michigan dual

Michigan wrestles Maryland Friday so we will get a clue on who shows up to wrestle.

Ya know,if BIlly Smith wrestles all 7 minutes with Coon,it could be a very close match.Looks like Coon was gassing a little.

Question about the match on Sunday. I am coming by train to watch us beat UMich. About how long does a wrestling match typically last? How long does it take to get back to the station in New Brunswick?
Thanks for your help.

Whichever wrestler scores a takedown in the 125 bout will win. I'm expecting a very close match. I think McCabe will bring it!

RU needs bonus points at 141 and 165. I'm hoping AP and AA bring the heat. It's a home match at the RAC so I have high expectations.

I think Perrotti will lose tonight against Isaac Jordan, but I also think he'll redeem himself on Sunday with a bonus points win.

About two hours. It's too far to walk. $$$$

Isn't this awesome for us wrestling fans when our other RU sports are suffering we got wrestling kicking butt! Good job to our coaching staff! I was not a big fan of Goodell few years ago, but that guy is a great coach, and I admit I made a mistake in prejudging him.

Go RU!

We all did my man.NJ wrestling fans can be very judgmental.I always liked Scott.I thought it was a bad mistake too hire the likes of a high school coach,at least on the D1 level. He transitioned well, and now look where we are,a powerhouse! It was just a matter of time, that kids and their parents bought into Scott's message, and passion for the program.I would never have thought in a million years, that a Johnny Sebastian or Andrew Camp, where going too be "take or leave" it type scenarios. We've gotten too that point. Now we have start developing our guys into Nolfs,Retherfords,Nickals and Megaludis across the board. We'll get there.

Imagine if we had hired Bobby Hurley Sr. in MBB. Fortunately, Freddy G. nixed that crazy idea. $$$$

Was the Michigan 125 pounder an all-american last season? If so, what happened to him?

Going to my first match today - great preview OP - thanks! Hopefully me and my son become lifelong fans today!

On paper it should be a good match, yes even a winnable match. That being said if we don't come to wrestle like we are capable of the score can become loop sided.

Rutgers will be recognizing the Seniors so I hope we get a nice turnout and we give Perroti, Hrymack, Smith, and Simmons the send off they deserve.
