RU watched Jahvon Quinerly

I am wondering if all the time spent watching this recruit is because Rutgers believes that Sanders won't be returning for his senior year.
If you're Rutgers I think you should be watching Quinerly if he has expressed interest in the school. Also, Rutgers is recruiting Babatunde Akingbola of McEachern, plus Brandin Knight is tight with Sharife Cooper's father. He's just a sophomore but something tells me that RU will offer that kid at some point.

Pretty sure RU already offered Sharife

You are correct. It appears that they offered him in April. Smart move by the staff

Appreciate the insights, Russ. What's your take on the kid? Looks small (understanding he's a 2020 kid). Assuming they're projecting more growth from him?

Isn’t JQ still at least a bit toxic given the Arizona commitment and the FBI probe?

I really liked him when I first say him playing for a 16U team this spring. His team, A.O.T., was playing "up" in a 17U bracket. So here's this smallish freshman PG leading a team of kids older than him and going up against teams older than all of them and he held his own just fine.

But today he was amazing. He was having a good game then Quinerly got nose to nose with him. Cooper didn't back down, in fact he made three straight field goals after that. Kind of like "challenge accepted, game on".

His teammates follow him, they trailed the first three quarters of the game, were facing adversity away from home against a team with seven seniors and Cooper was just calm and steady as them come. Kid was fearless going to the rim and taking contact. He was 16-20 (80 percent) from the free throw line.

Does he continue to grow taller? I haven't the slightest on that but his recruitment will be fun to cover/watch develop. Coaches can't even talk/text etc., with him yet lol

Certainly some schools will stay away. I've always thought JQ was a great kid, I hope things work out for him and he's at a D1 school next season.

We are lucky to have Brandin knight . Just luck that pike came and Dixon left Pitt at the same time. I think Pitt missed out by not hiring knight as the HC , with a solid veteran assistant . Knight won’t be with rutgers long and will get a HC job.

I was wondering the same thing. I assume there’s been some vetting done by the university.
The Courts and the NCAA will be doing some "vetting" during the coming months as the FBI continues Its investigation.

Have been told by several that Quinerly took money. Why does he hire an attorney 2 days after this recruiting stuff hit the papers ?

Cannot see him being eligible.

If Quinerly wants to come here’s, you take him in a heartbeat. A redemption story. Didn’t Auburn win a national football championship with Cam Newton? Lots of money was involved. The adults and coaches involved are at fault, the scoundrels. The player/young man gets a second chance. Focus the punishment effort on guys like Pitino and Book Richardson —the orchestrators, who built their reputations and legacy by (buy?) using these kind of tactics.

Quinerly could become the NCAAs Next Howard Porter Award to whomever signs him.

Tiny drove around in a van with "Free Weed" painted on the side to pull in your senior class and all seems fine with SHU these days (other than losing to us on Saturday). I am fine with RU following Quinerly's recruitment. More than fine, actually as the kid can REALLY play.

So far Louisville has ruled that Brian Bowen is ineligible & today USC ruled that De'Anthony Melton is ineligible, both who were involved in the same FBI probe. No school is going to allow any player involved to practice or play until the NCAA makes a ruling, which might take years.

I have some friends who coach/work in AAU circles and I asked them about Jahvon and Rutgers. They nicely told me there was really zero chance of that happening. I believe in Pikiell's ability to get top kids and think we will in '19/'20, just don't want to get anyone's hopes up. There's a good chance Knight was watching that game to see some other guys too.
