Rutgers-Camden agrees to a deal with Camden County College. Very similar to Rowan's deal with Gloucester County College.

This is such a bad move and reeks of politics. I'm all for the NJ Stars program and finding ways for students to transfer from County College into Rutgers but to allow anyone that maintains a 2.0 from Camden County into Rutgers-Camden is ridiculous. I could get a 2.0 at County College in my sleep. If you have a 2.0 at Rutgers you're on the verge of Academic probation - how can they accept transfer students with a 2.0 at County College of all places?

Also sharing the name is not good.

I was a huge advocate of Rutgers-Camden during the merger but this is not a good deal by any means.

Rutgers-Camden CCC Deal

Believe it or not, no one announced this to the Camden faculty and staff. Apparently I have to go to this site to find out what's happening at my own campus.

I guess that's what happens when the politicians are calling the shots.

I don't know how much political influence there would be in this case. Rowan's deal with Gloucester Community College probably made this deal inevitable. And, to be honest, I'm not sure there is much diminution in admission standards here on the part of Rutgers-Camden. Probably most A.A recipients with a 2.0 can get into Rutgers-Camden. I don't know what the standard is at NB.

Reading that article is seems like it was spearheaded by the County Freeholder's and Donald Norcross after they saw what Rowan did with Gloucester County so there was political influence.

If students with a 2.0 from County College are getting into Rutgers-Camden then I think that's an issue. If you have a 2.0 in New Brunswick you are borderline on academic probation so I don't know why it would/should be different in Camden.

And it has to be much easier to get a 2.0 at County College after 2 years then it is to get a 2.0 in either Camden or New Brunswick so to let them in with a 2.0 is not good.

Is this any different than the existing agreement we already have with Atlantic Cape CC or a handful of other schools in central NJ (Brookdale, Morris, Raritan Valley, and Mercer)

And lets be real here - those barely passing community college students arent going to be sticking around RU too long, even if they do bother to attend (which alot wont - the kid of people who barely get through CC are generally not going to be looking for even MORE education.)

I sincerely think RU Camden is still hurting from the attempted Norcross / Rowan takeover. They need to create an influx of students and this may help address that.

What actually is the agreement these days?

We talked about this awhile back but I forget what was the final story.

I believe if you graduate from a NJ CC you are guaranteed admission to A NJ state college, not necessarily RU. Then I think there are certain deals with specific CCs where you can take certain classes that will count a certain way...I don't know about auto admits.

I do recall a rule that you needed a 3.5 to transfer into Rutgers College. Not sure how it is with SAS. My friend's brother that did it since SAS had a 3.5 at Brookdale. I remember when I was at RU, a friend transferred from TTFP, another from Pharma...they didn't have a 3.5 and had to go to Douglass.
