Basketball Rutgers falls at Oregon with porous perimeter defense and struggling stars

Pikes lack of bball iq is at times astounding to me. 33.8 seconds, I get we have fouls to give but we also just executed a 2 for 1. Couldve got the ball back with like 7 seconds left and stole a possession. Instead they chase a guy around with 2 guys like its tag and give up a bucket. Its so obvious how little we practice situational basketball
When we fouled we essentially gave up any chance of getting the ball back Pike sucks

How does Martini not shoot that.

I absolutely despise this team*

*Grant you can come back
He did the same thing at UMD. Was on fire 1st half and I don't think he took a shot the whole 2nd half.as I noted he was 50% last 3 games and he now won't shoot more than a few.

Stupid use of fouls-to-give, when the shot clock is at 13 seconds, plus JWill didn’t even go for the steal. He just intentionally fouled and reset the shot clock, reducing our chance to score on a 2 for 1 to end the half.

Same old same old…..we play good for stretches, compete well but it’s not good enough, down 38-33. I feel like I have seen this movie before this year, maybe 13 times already??
If Ace and Dylan show up we could win, but with this team it is always something…..so tonight’s it’s always something may be Dylan and Ace pulling no shows while the others show up again, just like Iowa.

I’m sorry but that’s 10x worse than Greg’s TO before the Illinois FG.
Wrong. Not even close. It didn’t lose the game. Plus, they would have had only 2 sec for a rebound and full court push. Better odds to make UO reset the offense and start over. Actually the right play.

You’d be right if they’d have 15 seconds left but there were 32 seconds on the clock when UO’s possession started.

What a way to end the first half with a scoring drought and then allowing a uncontested layup. This looks like another game where Bailey and Harper don't score 30 points. The half court offense is stagnant with no player or ball movement to create open shots. Harper is missing 3 pointers and Bailey not taking enough shots.

Oregon 6-8 from 3

RU shooting 62% but trailing

Oregon 6 OREB to RU big fat 0

Oregon 10 assits to RU 4
Cannot get O rebounds when the entire team heads to the D end of the court when our guy takes a shot.
By the time the Oregon player gets the rebound you don't see a Rutgers player in the screen shot.

Here that Pike “… have to figure out a way to get him [Ace] open”. However, we fans here know that Pike and his staff don’t have a clue how to get Ace or anyone else open.

Regardless, our D is so porous it wouldn’t matter anyway if they did have a clue. The loss of Ogbole is much bigger than we all thought at first.

Oregon isn’t holding the ball, they are running their offense and getting a quality look.

You effectively intentionally gave up a possession for no reason. JMike was 35 feet from the hoop actively looking to foul.

From a pure strategy standpoint it makes absolutely no sense.

Remember part of it is on Ace. He mostly stands around - watch some other really good offensive players who expend more effort getting open.
