Football Rutgers Football OL coach Augie Hoffmann out

My fault
I'm just confused.

Many are so adamant that all these decisions are home runs and locks for success.
For example, hiring Hoffmann without an actual coaching position in mind was great because all these elite Northern NJ recruit that were going to flock here.
Two of this former players were even Top 10 NJ recruits.

But now Hoffmann isn't even being retained?
So now it's not the "greatest staff ever"?
What about all the Northern NJ recruits he's bringing in? (Allegedly - I have no idea because I couldn't care less about recruiting).

Hence my "But but...what about X".
It's my confusion over people being so extremely wrong when they were so dam adamant before. I'll have to stop thinking all these posts are as educated as I have been. That's on me.

But but your sarcasm might have been more effective if you had been originally against the hire of Hoffman as only a recruiter in the thread you linked.

I've been pretty consistent.
I questioned the HC Schiano hire because the main argument seemed to be "He's the only one who can turn around recruiting!"

Okay great - but what the current roster and players until all these new elite recruits are ready? Well here we are - waiting until at least 2025 (according to the ardent supporters) before we have even a half competent offense.

I even just made a signature (I think?) to memorialize it for eternity.

Caveat: If hiring Cooper Manning as OL coach gets Arch to come here - then ignore all this.
Or hiring RHJ clinches Dylan.
Hire all the relatives of Top 10 national recruits.

Forget OC.
Maybe OL coach is cursed.

Remember OL Coach Blazek was the best coach on staff, elite recruiter and potential Rutgers HC candidate?
That didn't work out too well either.
The OL steadily declined during Schiano's first tenure. It was great in 2006 and eventually bottomed out in 2010. The OL was adequate during Flood's first 2 seasons. Then the wheels fell off. It's been up on blocks since.

So you're saying the OL was better in '02-'03 than '10?

Seriously?

This is the coach we want for OL. Doubt we could get him. But couple his recruiting with Marquise Watson on the DL, and we would be vying for the CFP in 4 years. He is currently the DL coach but also the run game coordinator.

Assistant Head Coach/Running Game Coordinator/Defensive Line

Would love to have Elijah on staff. Rumors had him close to coming this way then A&M upped the ante. Marquise is a nice second to Elijah. Not sure Elijah has experience on the offensive side of the ball.

When neither the RB (Estime?) or OL (VanderMark?) from St. Joes came here after we hired Augie, you had to question what he was bringing on the recruiting front. He was probably miscast as the RB coach but I assume Gleeson made bringing Aurich in as his OL coach a condition of his hire. That did not work out great and then AA and AH switch roles but yet the line continues to struggle. Who know if it would have been different if AH was the line coach from day one. Interesting that KC too seems to have a view on who should be coaching the OL for him. Obviously GS did not value AH that highly to endorse him to KC.
