Believe it our not, the S/L needs RU football now more than we need them. If the S/L stopped covering RU football, it would be a bigger loss for them than it would be for the football program. For fans like us who want to follow the team, there are numerous other outlets available, including this site. More and more people are getting their news on the web as versus newspapers, and NJ.COM has a ton of competition on the web.
While only an incremental amount of readers would stop buying the S/L if they didn't have coverage of RU football, or had subpar coverage due to lack of access, it would be a meaningful increment, and given the current state of print media, perhaps enough to drive the S/L into bankruptcy and closure.
