Per Sports Illustrated, Coach Chris Ash announced that University of Houston 's Drew Mehringer will be the new Rutgers OC. He is a Texas native, young guy at 28 years old and comes highly recommended from Ash's former colleague Houston HC Tom Herman. Mehringer was also the recruiting coordinator at Houston. Mehringer was the WR coach last season for the Cougars.

Here is the article from SI. Interesting to note and if you've seen Houston you would know they've leaned towards a run heavy system. It is mentioned in the article that Mehringer who has followed Herman around is an expert in this system
It should be noted per local Houston that Mehringer is expected to coach Houston's bowl, The Peach Bowl on 12/31 vs Florida State
