Rutgers ranked 56 out of 65 Power 5 coach Jobs ESPN.

It's amazing how the previous dozen years at Rutgers didn't happen. Each time Rutgers reaches a milestone (hurdle), so called experts like ESPiN create a new one because they don't like being wrong. As much as people rip Flood, he only had one really bad season (2015: 4-8), yet ESPiN and Dennis Dodd make it seem as if that has been status quo for Rutgers since 1869.

The problem is that even the 'good' seasons that we had were mostly padded by wins against terrible teams. I don't really see us having reached that many milestones or jumping over too many hurdles since 2006, which was TEN years ago.

I think Ash will turn that around. Our facilities and infrastructure is not at the elite teams level. This was not the best year for image and recruiting has been difficult in the rich New Jersey football talent area. We struggled to put on the field a product that can win big. Once this items are address the value of our program will increase.

Please stop with making good seasons into nothing while 1 or 2 bad seasons are the end of the world. You can't give teams who pad their record with questionable wins all the credit, yet never give Rutgers credit for its record. This way of thinking comes from our own fans who always find fault with Rutgers because it's expected. Based on my experience outsiders see this and use it against Rutgers. Over time the outsiders create their own image of what is Rutgers, then we complain because some of us didn't think of it first.

We are being ripped by a professional propaganda machine. But why and who gives a $hit? There are "actuaries" you might say, who do market share projections for the bottom line of Advertising $$$$$. And remember 10 years ago we owned a very large piece of the NYC metro advertising pie with our 2006 season. Should that happen again we will cut deep into Esipn/SEC market share and Dollars. Here is a company over extended with bloated staff, with many overpaid sportscasters that are feeling the pinch. How would you feel if 2% or 5% of your revenue moves to another broadcast company. They are fighting for their future.
Understand 80% of Alabama TV eyeballs is ~3.8 million.
While Metro NYC at only 15% is just over 3 Million TV eyeballs. Yes we would need a great season. But should Ash deliver on his vision, move over espin, the B1G is mov'in on up.
Espin is 37 years old vs. B1G Network is only 9 years old and the Nuevo eastern division is only 2 years old. We are growing, while bloated Espin is ready for a pop i.e. a major reorganization!
These are the coming of the "good ole days"

Agreed! That's why a try not to pay attention to ESPN.

In a couple of year we should be one of the elite program and we will post this report wondering why we are not rank in the top five.

I'm going to sound like Advanced Media but 7? players arrested for serious crimes, Flood and the professor, Carroo's well publicized troubles, Hermann's multiple gaffs, money issues including the subsidy, and a 4-8 record with multiple blowouts. Hell, RU is lucky they weren't #65.

Hobbs and Ash can make the previous administration a distant memory. The players can make the arrests and losses something in the past. The B1G, boosters, and the recent state effort can help solve some if not much of the money issues. Even if it happens it will still take time. For the time being RU will be looked on as toxic.

Sure it's depressing to constantly hear the school being knocked but we have to look to the future and let the past be just that, the past.

First, let's be accurate here. The B1G is 120 years old. The BTN is 9 years old.

Second, ABC/ESPN is still going to have broadcast rights to at least some Big Ten games. This is why:

According to a Sunday ESPN release, The Game drew a 7.8 overnight rating, making it the highest-rated game of the college football weekend and the second-highest overnight rating of the season across all networks. It was also the highest-rated noon college football game ever since records began in 2004.

The only game to draw a higher overnight rating in 2015 is Ohio State's home game against Michigan State last weekend. The Spartans' 17-14 upest victory scored a 7.0 rating. That game stands as the highest-rated 3:30 p.m. game on ABC since the 2006 game between Michigan and Ohio State.
...

Here's a look at the most-watched games of the 2015 college football season:

1. Michigan State-Ohio State (7.0 rating), 3:30 p.m. ABC, Nov. 21
2. Michigan-Ohio State (6.8), Noon, ABC, Nov. 28
3. Ohio State-Virginia Tech (6.6), 8 p.m., ESPN Sept. 7
4. LSU-Alabama (6.3), 8 p.m., CBS Nov. 7
5. Florida State-Clemson (5.5), 3:30 p.m., ABC Nov. 7
6. Michigan State-Michigan (5.1), 3:30 p.m., ESPN Oct. 17
7. Oregon-Michigan State (5.0), 8 p.m., ABC Sept. 12

Emphasis changed/added to the most watched games. I hate ESPN as much as the next guy, but chances are if Rutgers has a 2006-type season again, the big games are going to be on ABC/ESPN.

And as the deal is written, I believe, when Espin takes a B10-B10 game they have to pay more to the B10 and I thought it was 2-5-8% higher then they do with other conferences. a Delany/Silverman BTN deal
And I am sorry I should have written it as the B1G Network as I was comparing two broadcast companies

Let's not get carried away with "7". Four players were in a fight that got out of hand, and it looks like one will pay the price. Many football players get into fights and the charges get swept under the carpet (see Corey Clement at Wisconsin) without escalated charges of inciting a riot and conspiracy to incite a riot. And wasn't it ONE player and one former player in the alleged break-in/robbery? Where did seven come from?

4 scholarship players, 2 former players, and a walk on correct?

I agree with you fights happen all the time but I'm talking outsider's perceptions and why RU was rated so low. Do you think these people take the time to research what each young man's status was at the time? No, they were all football players (and must be guilty) in their minds.

I don't know if that's the case or not. It may be, but it's not going to change the fact that ABC/ESPN is likely to have at least 50% of the Big Ten first tier football rights.

It could be worse. We could be ranked here and still have Flood. At least CA seems to have a plan to move us up.

Sorry but the only reason that we only had 1 or 2 'bad' seasons was because of all the pancake games. I do believe that in the next few years our program will be in much better shape. But right now, we are in the correct spot on the list.

I don't know what's worse, talking about Rutgers schedule or fan support? Again, not every school is judge on the same leveled playing field. Kansas State continues to play sister of the blind and no one says a word. Penn State hasn't played murder's row either, but I do think you'll give them a pass because of their name. PSU has played Eastern Michigan, Indiana State, Akron, UMass., Youngstown, and Kent State in the last few years.
Perhaps if you knew more about some of the scheduling issues for Rutgers, you wouldn't be so quick to mock them. Just a few years ago Rutgers tried Ole Miss, but Ole Miss didn't want a return trip. Same thing with Oklahoma. Arkansas was the only one to said yes. Btw, here's what Rutgers has on tap in the future (next few years) for non conference games: UCLA, Washington, Miami, Kansas and Temple on top of the B1G conference games. Are you still going to complain?
