I can't wait until they're showing RU-New Mexico game on ESPN Classic, so I can re-live at least one happy moment from this year.
Hill took an unnecessary shot because Durkin was inexplicably still trying to score. He's lucky nothing worse happened.
What about the big comeback against Howard?
We need someone who can at least kick it under the crossbar and work up from there. How can you kick that distance in HS and not get stronger in college ? Plenty of guys out there that can kick a 50 yd FG so go find one. This might be the easiest fix for the team for next year.
You're right , from talent level on roster to inexperienced HC &OC along with experienced ones that aren't the right fit for the type of coaching chops that can help the players they're coaching make the most out of the talent they have.
This season can be blamed on every aspect of the RU FB program this season.
As for the players, I'm disappointed at the way they played this year, but do get upset at the posters that call them out individually , especially the posters that claimed RU doesn't have the talent to compete. You would think they would be given a Mulligan because their talent wasn't up to B1G play and shouldn't be expected to do well at the B1G level.
I'm giving the RU's HC Ash & OC Mehringer mulligans because they are new to their jobs and have to overcome obstacles that some experienced coaches might find hard to do.
But won't excuse them for the way RU looked this season while blaming the experienced coaches for the way their players preformed, even if those players didn't have B1G type talent, they should have played better with proper coaching that utilized the talent they have and minimized their weaknesses as much as possible.

Was it not 31-13 at the time? If so, we were down 18.
If I'm wrong about that, then I would've definitely given more thought to going for it. But at that point in the game, from where we were, if we could hit a field goal, we use up less time and make it a two TD game w/out requiring a two point conversion. If we miss, at least we use up less time and if the D plays well, it's still a two score game but now we need the conversion.
And we weren't able to pass protect most of the game (most of the season, really). So it was a good bet we'd lose a bunch of field position and take a sack.
I'll have to go back and look at the recording. But even if the score was still 28-13, although it'd be a tougher choice than 31-13, I still think I would've have probably tried to the field goal there and then tried to get them to go three and out.
