Have you ever played this friggin game? A screen pass is set up at a certain point on the field. It's designed to be a timing play. They don't just go where ever they feel like.
why did we fire flood then, was it cuz of his off the field stuff? because according to u everything on the field is on the players....
When Carroo missed all of those games our RBs looked remarkably average - and we still had Grant at the time but didn't use him properly because last year's wonderful OC insisted on running double TE sets. Teams loaded the box and Flood and Co insisted on running into 9 man fronts. Remember that? There was a stretch where we failed to run the ball effectively last year even with double TE sets and a lead fullback at other times.
That was our day in a nutshell Hayes had London for a loss and Hayes managed to turn it into an 8 yd game

Zero talent. We have very few busted plays or players out of position. They just can't make plays. It's all a lack of talent.

Ash and Mehringer are overmatched because of the talent they have on offense and both are learning on the job, which makes it hard to figure out how to make them competitive against a program like MSU , even if that program is having a down year. RU should at-least be a little competitive instead of being blown out against the Spartans and that's on Ash as well as the talent on the roster.
I won't knock Ash or Mehringer for their coaching this season because both are learning on the job, also won't claim they will be good ones in the future, because of the way they have RU FB playing this year
They have their Mulligans, but don't deserve excuses for how terrible RU looks most games now.

Blame Cioffi! Entire defense line and every linebacker misses tackle. Blame Cioffi.

Can only put players in position. It's a playmakers sport. Gotta be able to bring a RB down if you are DL with your hands on him. We can't.

Sorry but this team has quit. I see no fight, everyone is arm tackling. No hustle, everyone is playing timid. That's what happens when a team quits , everyone is just going through the motions.

Formerlyknownas says it's coaching...it's all on the coaching. Even though...Carroo left for the NFL - we lost the entire starting LB corps. We lost our only playmaker on offsense for the entire season. Our offense which was moving the ball with a true dual threat can no longer run read option because our QB has a bad hamstring.
My only gripe is that we need to see Oden at this point - hope they put him in
Oden looks quicker, just can't break a tackle. Still a plus at the moment.

Cioffi goes all out and that needs to be noted, but he might be over-matched in this defense without getting the help he needs and other D players doing the job they are assigned giving him a little leeway . But no matter what he must do his or take the blame.
Even if the defensive schemes aren't the right fit for those on the field playing the type of D RU is doing, each player including Cioffi must do their assignment without being excused because another didn't do theirs.
Then you have the coaching staff, games like this none should go scott free when complaints are being handed out.
