Rutgers Wrestling Sends Six to Midlands

This would really be a good tourny for Poz, Yara and Dean to attend. Unless they're hurt it looks like some seeding protection. I'm not a fan of that and I'm not scared to tell it how it looks. What's up with that? They should definitely be in this.

Good luck to the rest of the guys.

I don’t know the official reason but Peterson has a long history of being banged up so some rest in his case is probably useful. Yara was banged up before the break and Poz got burnt out the last time we saw him in a full season so it could be some load management. This tournament wasn’t on the official schedule so Rutgers can only bring 6 guys with the rest of the guys having to pay their own way.

It is interesting how some fans criticized Cornell when Coach Grey said he sat guys because they were hurt. Now we defend Rutgers when it is stated that our guys are hurt. It is likely true that both our guys and the Cornell kids were hurt. It just seems we have a double standard.

Completely different. Get a clue. They scheduled a dual tourney and then all their higher speeds ducked lower seeded wrestlers after already wrestling. We're sending a few guys to a tournament not on our official schedule. 🧌

You are giving our pessimist idiot a run for his money on being the most miserable person on this board.

There’s a difference between not sending guys to an unscheduled tournament, and sitting guys in a scheduled dual meet after claiming injuries following completely onsided beat downs earlier in the day.

You also need to get a clue. You’re on a Rutgers message board, you’re going to get views biased towards the Rutgers side. If you want people to cry about what Rutgers does, go join the Penn state board

Is it me or does the Midlands field seem to be getting weaker and weaker every year??? Used to have post grads entered in this as well as many top wrestlers… doesn’t seem to be the case this year and don’t see the trend stopping..

Also it’s kind of a joke when flo does these previews hyping up potential matchups for these tournaments/events.. bc half the time the matchup doesn’t even occur whether it’s wrestlers unregistering entree last min, inj defaults or any other reasons.

It’s a recent thing but yes it’s getting weaker. The recent strategy of ducking every quality opponent to protect your seed has taken away from pretty much everything the sport stands for, then you’ll get a national champ from a powerhouse team with a final season record of like 16-0

You have so many tournaments like the Douthern Scuffle, the Iowa tourney, etc so it naturally will be watered down. It used to be Wilkes and Midlands at this time and that was it

Southern scuffle field looks like a joke too.. barely any ranked wrestlers and best team there might be… Stanford.. lol.. guess teams are following the Psu protocol.. wrestle like 16 matches , make the ncaa tourney, move on to next season.

Until the NCAA makes some drastic changes to how seeding is calculated, that’s going to be the model for all of the top teams. Mid level teams like Rutgers will continue to advocate for the importance of duals because realistically we’re not contending for team national titles yet so the team emphasis will fall elsewhere. That’s why it was so ridiculous that UNC ducked us a couple years ago. They should be in the same boat as us.

Cliff Keen tournament also takes some guys away from Midlands. Just like having a million wrestling streaming platforms, the lack of consolidation when it comes to Christmas tournaments takes away from the sport.

This sport has never had more talent and it continues to go backwards. Even a lot of people here have grown disinterested. The sport is getting lapped by other sports like womens volleyball and it’s going to continue to die if nothing changes.

Looked at track, has M. Cetta MFF. Hopefully he didn't get hurt in warmups.
