dylan wins 5-2 vs cleveland state wrestler.....Dyan didnt even wrestle last half of third....he controlled most of match on feet, would have liked to see him get the takedown in 3rd.

tough test in Ariz State Chlevebo (#5 seed next)

clark wins 4-2.
2 evenly matched wrestlers. Clark stalled last half of 3rd, but held on

Glad Clark won. Would like to see him open up more. Tends to score when he gets to his offense. Big one next round

soldano gets taken down in a body lock with under 10 seconds left and losses

Wow, Soldano loses to a previously winless before today backup from Purdue. Not sure what he was thinking trying to lock up with the lead and less than 10 seconds to go. What a miserable performance.

Looks like he doesn’t even want to be out there. Common theme from some of our highly regarded recruits

IMO it looks he is thinking too much at times and not actually wrestling, which causes him to be less aggressive and have some serious mental lapses (like today)

Also there have been some comments about him being small for 184. Today the wrestler was 100% stronger then him. I agree on your take. It’s frustrating bc he was so much better then that guy.

I agree. More times than not, he looks like he is giving up a lot of size and strength to his opponent which is even more of a detriment given his natural style.

Bad loses happen. Kyle Parco who was ranked #3 and Richard Figueroa who was ranked #4 both lost today (Figs was losing before he MFF) so it happens but hopefully he learns from it and betters himself as the season progresses

Crazy how much SCW has developed. Granted it was a covid shortened season and the scheduling was weird but he was a .500 wrestler as a junior in high school (he had a much better record at Monmouth as a sophomore) and then jumped to be a state placer as a senior. Not sure what he was doing last season but now he’s competing pretty well as a big 10 wrestler. Crazy.

On the other end of the spectrum, 4x state placer and former Rutgers commit Jack Zaleski dropped out of college and is no longer wrestling. He is volunteering as a coach at Middletown North even though he graduated from South.

SCW placed as a junior, not senior. As senior he transferred to st Benedicts and took 4th at prep nationals.

I’d like Soldano to wrestle more of his wild man style from his freshman year.. seems to make him more dangerous

He wasn't trying to lock up with him...

Forgot about that kid. What happened?

Ugh, Clark loses in OT on a second stall call against the Rider guy who he has beaten multiple times already. He was on the defensive the whole match so not a great showing from him either.

In keeping with the theme of terrible performances, White loses 4-2 to a true freshman from Illinois and couldn’t score an offensive point. His tournament is done.

True but come on, you cannot let your opponent even get close enough to lock up like that. You have no stalling warnings…can’t let that happen. That kid was 7-25 in his career
Sometimes ya just gotta give credit to the opponent... They're D1 athletes also
