Saquon Barkley and Flood's last-ditch recruiting efforts

That's a sad story . I kind of feel sorry for flood after reading that . Flood seems like a good guy, but is just in a high position that he's not qualified for .

I can't believe Barkley gave up a chance to be part of the 'rotation' at Rutgers.

I found it "sad," too. Sad that THAT was Flood's last-ditch effort to get the kid back:

"I love you Saquan, we really think Rutgers is the best place for you"

Wow.
What would you have liked Flood to do?

This is really more than just Flood. Since we have fallen back to the place we are now in, it is not surprising that we are going to fail more than succeed when a player has choices like he had.
I just never get excited about early commits. If they have real breakout seasons, you know a lot of other schools will be knocking and it is just so damn hard to hang onto them.

This is more on the school than Flood. Flood should have never been hired in the first place or atleast let go prior to joining B10. He is probably doing the best he can within his abilities and his personality but can't compete as a lame duck against B10 negative recruiting.

Fludd could've done alot of things to give Barkley a tangible reason to believe that both he and Rutgers would be successful, instead all he could come up with is, 'I skipped practice to come tell you that I love you'.

Sell the offense, sell the team, sell the education, sell the location, sell past RB success...at crunch time if all you can come up with is 'I love you' then you got nothing. Many guys have uttered those words while watching her runoff with the other guy, lol.

I am not trying to defend Flood
But how do you know he didn't?
Let's not pile on just for the sake of piling on

Truly sad. And sad for the RU faithful that this unqualified man has hindered the program for 4 years and is still at the helm.

He could have always went with the I had a dream that Jesus wanted you at Florida, I mean RU line.

I don't know maybe say "listen, I understand the pressure to play for your home state team, BUT..." then list the reasons he originally chose RU, and SELL HIM ON MY VISION, AND SELL HIM on why he originally chose RU.

Sorry, but those words, IMHO, were a flat-out pathetic attempt to get him back. "I LOVE YOU..."?? Really? How about "WE LOVE YOU at RUTGERS...." and go from there?

I'm not buying the " I love you, Saquon" thing. It was probably, " I love your game, Saquon, we really think Rutgers is the best place for you"

wow that's embarrassing. Stain is stain you either have it or you don't you cant make it up with I love yous

as Annie Lennox sang..."No More I Love Yous" Kyle

But it worked on the two kids PSU tried to flip last year. Plenty of things to bitch about but a third party fluff piece isn't one.

You guys are ridiculous the only reason he committed to RU because he had no other offers. After he had his breakout year he got offers and adios. What does this have to do with Flood other than he noticed the potential before anyone else

Yet it's sad and pathetic....sad and pathetic would have been if he had done nothing at all
This board can't go any further down the toilet than how it has gone

Seriously, we all agree that we need to move on, but this is just ridiculous

How can anyone really think that a coach will tell a potential recruit, " I love you". I want Flood gone too, but, this is ridiculous.

HELP WANTED: Dynamic head coach with a vision and a plan. Must possess excellent game day coaching skills, be able to manage all aspects of the program and delegate when necessary. Creativity, ability to recruit, develop players and think on your feet required. Prior sales experience a must.

If Flood was recruiting well and winning the article would've meant very little and probably would've never been written. The person that wrote that article is piling on, not the fans. The fans are simply frustrated. As they say, it is what it is.

BTW - this IS a shitty article to put out, I see no reason whatsoever for it, but...

...how do I know he didn't? I don't, BUT, we've heard from Bobby, in the past, that Flood was NOT ever attempting to "sell a vision" to recruits, at least the first couple of years, whether that changed or not, who knows, so yeah it's a little guess work but, still, "I love you"??

Why wouldn't a writer that covers a school that is in competiton with Rutgers for recruits and on the field write an article like this? Fludd is a liability and they are taking advantage of it.

Of course we think it's a crappy article but of course we weren't the intended audience.
