Let's see how many for Greg coming back and how many against.
SOme people prefer to go with a known commodity. He's not perfect, but he is a Former NFL head coach, He took us from basement to mediocrity. Maybe he could do better now with B10 in his recruiting pitch...maybe he learned from his past mistakes.I do not understand the love affair you guys have with Greg Schiano. His teams always under achieved because of Schiano's stubbornness.
Luckily, head coach is not an elected position.Thought would have more voting.
But , so far, hiring Greg is way ahead.
I thought it would be a lot closer than it is now
says the guy with an andre boggs avatar... lolLuckily, head coach is not an elected position.
Not sure what that means.says the guy with an andre boggs avatar... lol
We finished 3rd that year and went to the Texas Bowl. I would hope we have higher aspirations. I thank Greg for all he did but I want a winner. Not close enough.I do not understand the love affair you guys have with Greg Schiano. His teams always under achieved because of Schiano's stubbornness.///////////////////
ALWAYS? 2006 top 10 finish was underachieving? We could go on but if one is unwilling to let facts get in the way, then they can always keep going in error.

According to Wikipedia, Rutgers finished 2006 ranked #12 in both polls.I do not understand the love affair you guys have with Greg Schiano. His teams always under achieved because of Schiano's stubbornness.///////////////////

All I remember was no Big East titles, embarrassing loses to Cincinnati and North Carolina and a coach walking out on us a week before we had our best recruiting class. I'm not a Flood guy but we need a big time coach. At least with Schiano I was proud to wear my Rutgers hat, I saw some pretty good football and went to some OK bowls (and won). Right now the future looks dim.

The First 4 years of Schiano's tenure was getting Rutgers from being the absolutely worst team in America... Try recruiting on that. He ran a complete program and got us some integrity. He micromanaged because he had to.. No one was experienced. We had good days and bad. His recruiting classes got into the 30's from uncalculated. He was a dropped pass in 3 OT's from getting the championship....
Speaking of past history I think people forget the BE had some good coaches while Greg was hot. Rich Rod was at WV and then Michigan, Dantonio was at Cincy and then Michigan St. Kelly was at Cincy and then ND. Petrino was at Louisville and then Arky. Strong was at Louisville and then Texas. Heck even non BE Navy even had Paul Johnson (who beat RU one year) and Maryland had Fridge. UConn's Edsel went on to Maryland. The only really shitty coach was at SU. Even USF's Jim Leavitt was ok despite Schiano always beating him. The BE was a coaching hot bed for awhile

Nobody forgot what schiano did to build the program - what the Schiano supporters forget is his accomplishments are huge, and his quirks are bigger. HE comes at a price - I don't see us winning a lot of bigger games under him if he came back, his system just doesn't get "it". We'll be disciplined, have more stars next to our recruits, but he won't get good coordinators, would want a boatload of a deal, and we will be 4th or lower in our division every year. Now, if he has changed, and will want sharp coordinators, and give them leverage, it's a different situationPeople also forget attendance for RU games averaged around 22-24K a year when GS arrived. He moved ticket sales up over 20% a year so that by 2006 the place was selling out, and an addition to the stadium became possible.
I don't think anyone forgets any of those things; I think people are very mindful of them when they say, "we thank you for your service, and we accept your resignation."People also forget attendance for RU games averaged around 22-24K a year when GS arrived. We'll never aim higherOnly if he's the best option. I think we need to aim higher than Schiano
Well your post would imply that the fan base would do a worse job of selecting the head coach than our miserable administration. And your Avatar is confusing because I dont know if i can take you seriously or if you are trying to stir the pot.Not sure what that means.
Nick Saban? College coaches don't come better that Schiano. There are only a handful that may top him for success and charisma but none in NJ. Greg is a rock star coach who does it all. We need him a lot more than he needs us. We are so fortunate that he will be available for next season. Go Julie - lock him in and you will be a Rutgers legacy.Only if he's the best option. I think we need to aim higher than Schiano
FIFYWho else with any BCS or P5 or NFL head coaching experience is coming here?
