While we all hold out hope that RU can achieve the level of success IU hoops had under Crean (though admittedly not up to IU standards ), I did find it interesting that one of the things that sunk him was his inability to get the top in state kid to commit every year. This is from the AP article on his firing: while he won some in-state recruiting battles, "four of the last five Mr. Basketballs - Gary Harris, Zak Irvin, Trey Lyles and Kyle Guy - attended college out of state. The lone exception, 2015 winner Caleb Swanigan, wound up at Purdue." Not too worried about Mr. Crean and the millions he made and will continue to make, but it's a tough recruiting world out there when you have trouble selling IU to the best of Indiana. Can only imagine the local blowback to these kids for not picking Indiana! In NJ, they get a pat on the back.
