this is great news for us.

1) When we play Miami on Wednesday it will be their 4th game in 6 days after trraveling across the country.

2) we get to watch 2 of our next 5 opponents

3) Miami will most likely fly home 5 hours on Monday morning tired as hell and pretty much lose Friday and have one day to prep for us. I think this gives us a legit chance to steal one

Wow- 10:30PM start Sunday, fly home Monday and play Wednesday? Jet lag will be in full mode.

I don't think the travel matters and the 3 games in 4 days matters.....if they win vs SHU and have momentum, they would want to play the next day anywhere at any time.

If they were flying to Newark to play at RU then i would feel much better about things.....red eye home from LAX to Miami....sleep in Monday and walkthrough on Tuesday and Wednesday AM and play Wednesday night.

It about time we play in a true neutral court holiday tourney. Was the last time the pre-season NIT in 2002 or a tourney held in Raleigh in GW year 1?

Most recently we played in Vegas and Brooklyn at neutral site events, losing to Creighton and Clemson in Vegas...beating Vandy then losing to Virginia in Brooklyn

Yeah who could forget how completely embarrassing the second game of both tournaments was. Our offense in that UVA game set basketball back about 60 years.

I asked Pike this same question and he didnt say anything was forthcoming except that any tourneys must be approved by the Big 10. I am holding out hope for next years Legends Tourney which has 1 opening and no local team as it's a relatively not tough tourney with Richmond, New Mexico, and Auburn albeit Auburn real good.

Since we are headed to Coral Gables this week to see the game vs Miami I’m interested in this game tonite.

Will be good to get a look at the Miami team before our game with them.

Aren’t they supposed to go to class at some point?

With 20 league games, probably could play this but we have 10 games OOC.

ACC B1G
Gavitt Games
Home Seton Hall
At UMass

That would leave 6 potential games at home. If the roster improves this year, I could see adding the Legends. But my instincts tell me no and we will pass.

I agree, Hawk. ACC B1G Challenge will be a home game and I believe we also have Fordham home next year and with home game vs SHU that equates to 13 known home games. Don't think we'll play in Gavitt Games next year as most B1G 10 teams alternate given 8 games and 14 teams in conference but I could be wrong with latter.

Dont you get an extra OOC game when you play in an early season tournament?

This is a good game. Miami plays kinda sloppy reminds me of us but they have more talent. Miami is poorly rotating right now on the D end

High scoring game with 7 minutes left in the half. Not much D on either end
This little guard on miami is quick as hell.

Hes only 5’7. I know it is unconventional, but we should have Geo post up on him. He’ll have 8 inches on him

Dude... Miami just shot 67% from the floor. I dont think they're that good... the D here is just terrible both ways, no?
I agree. This is a street ball game haha. Gotta wonder if two east coast teams are tired though. Yeah it tipped at 7:30 cali time but it’s 10:30 east coast time and 3rd game in 4 days with a lot of sitting around

Can’t see us beating either of these teams on the road. I think Miami will smoke us but we’ll be in the game with SHU.

Miami is quite athletic but don't look too good defensively. The only way we win or play competitive is to keep the score in the 60s or so and have real big games from Eugene and or any of the bigs inside as Miami interior defense looks poor. It ll be a very tough task for us to beat Miami on the road as I suspect we ll be a 10 point dog or so. Miami pg Lykes is dynamic and zack Johnson is a heckuva shooter. Tough task for us in Miami.

Johnson must be kept in check. They have some athletic wings who are good at getting to the cup too. Going to be a real test to see how we hold up.

This is a heckuva game

Who do we want to win this? I'm thinking Miami... hopefully in OT. Get a tired and content team on Wednesday. Maybe our only shot to win that...

Seton Hall has scored a ton of points via layups, dunks and drives to the basket. It's like the Red Sea with the interior defense of Miami

Hall wins a close one. Miami missed a three pointer then a tip in trailing by one. The hall made one more free throw to win by two

Its hard to draw much conclusion from a single game. Teams can look like completely different programs from one day to the next. We could beat both and could lose to both.
But either way I think the team will be fired up unlike how they were against Boston U.

I think we'll hold up with the front court matchups against Miami, but I don't like the backcourt matchups. It'll be great if we keep it competitive.
