SIAP: No More DJ Yoshi

Thug Lyfe

Prepare to wear headphones or earplugs oldtimers. The pregame music is played for the players. It won't be any different genre than what Yoshi played. Technics 1200's ... that's old school.

Wow, that is the old grease trucks parking lot across from Scott Hall at the corner of Hamilton St and College Ave ?

How times have changed. For the better, of course !

If this guy plays anything like what the kids listen to during workouts and practice this board is in for a treat haha.

It's pretty bad.

Then they should move the speakers down to field level.

If he's doing the same time slot as DJ Yoshi, I'd imagine most people won't hear much of him... if you don't like the music "kids these days" listen to, by all means have an extra drink at your tailgate before coming in the stadium, and you'll miss the DJ entirely.

Yoshi's song selection wasn't as bad as when he got in the microphone. Painful to listen too.

Song selection was what's popular. Understandable some folks don't like it, but when you're trying to appeal to the masses...

It's a shame they got rid of Dj Yoshi, he had his 1-0 remix ready to go for this season.

to those that still say I'm terrible and the worst DJ of all time... THANK YOU.
For those that actually supported, I'd be glad to host you at my section for the NJ Devils this season. I'll even provide you with a coupon code discounted seating.
For folks traveling out to the B1G Ten Championship weekend, I'll be there all week for the festivities and spinning the game.
And for those that care about giving back for a great cause, please join me for the WBA/WBC Fight Night DC in November. Tickets start at $750. Enjoy the welcome reception party, Under Armour VIP event, WBA/WBC title fight and an after party with myself and Grandmaster Flash & more....

To those that do nothing BUT complain and aren't up to change, do you even realize what we did at Rutgers?
9 seasons in and people STILL called for me to "be fired." People lack the ability to change and adapt to the new generation's way of doing things. We took something that was only done in certain arenas and avenues in sports and made it something that programs across the country do now.
How do I know that it was based off of what we did at Rutgers? because programs in the ACC, Big 12 and yes... EVEN SEC contacted us for booking inquiries. When I told them my allegiance was to Rutgers, they understood and asked that we help them with their game day selections. So yes, I'm 100% proud of that... even when people rained down with negative comments. "He can't DJ, he's not a producer, he's terrible on a microphone."
I heard it all on this message board. Rarely have I challenged anyone. People are entitled to think the way they want to think and say whatever they'd like to say.

People on boards act pretty high and mighty. I've met people who have "called for my head" on the forum, but will shake my hand and smile in person. All I'll say is if you put positive vibes and thoughts towards something rather than negative, you won't always be so negative in life. Also stop being selfish. Think about how what you say or do can affect other people's lives.
Thank God I'm successful enough that I did Rutgers at cost. I could have been with any other program charging a full rate, but I didn't because I'm an alum and I enjoyed my time with the program.

But let's say that I wasn't as successful outside of Rutgers Football as I am today? What if Rutgers were my only source of income as it is for some of the contractors that work with the program. Think about how your "let's fire" XYZ starts a ripple. Sometimes the ripple is just that a ripple with no effect. But what about when it does change someone's life? Do I go to your board and bosses saying you're TERRIBLE at being a lawyer, a surgeon, a contractor? Truth is, I have no idea what it means to be good at any of your disciplines in life... so what makes you think that you know what a good DJ is or does?
Walk a month in any professional DJ's shoes. Our business is based off of relationships, word of mouth and accolades. So please, give the new DJ a chance. give him a chance to learn and grow. Please stop being so negative in life. You'll be a much better person, employee or employer.

Good luck for the rest of the season and thank you again to those supporters out there. It's been an absolute pleasure.

Best wishes to you for great success in your future endeavors. Accept and understand that the music you play isn't going to be liked by the older folks, me included, in the stadium crowds.

The things people write on these boards is utterly shameful knowing that it's coming out of the minds of other adults.
I swear people will always have something to complain about. If it's not the concessions, it's the parking or the scarlet walk, or people being late for kickoff, or lack spending, or recruiting, and now it's the warmup music. It just goes on and on. The amount of negativity that surrounds this program is downright depressing. If you don't lIke the music that gets the players and student section going, then by all means stay your ass in the parking lot. It's as if the mentality is to root for them, but not relate to them. It's 2016 folks. Get with the program.

We eat our own in Jersey.

It's not a place for everyone.

But if you can make it in this environment -- whether you're a football player, DJ, accountant, stay-at-home, whatever -- you can make it anywhere.

Best of luck, Yoshi!

See, that's the thing though, the school WANTS people in their seats early. If after 9 years (that felt like 100) DJ Yoshi's "style" didn't get asses in seats then maybe another approach is needed.

Fans beyond 35 yrs old or so don't want to hear that garbage blasting from the speakers at top volume and those are the fans that are paying the bills. But OK, if it gets the students in maybe it's worth it.... but it didn't so it's not.

Valid point. I ask though, do you honestly believe it's the music that's keeping the above 35 from being in their seats on time for kickoff?
This was a problem long before we had a DJ at warmups.
Without sounding "Holier than thou," I remember me and my buddies getting into the stadium an hour before kickoff freezing our butts off in the student section and this continued for a few years as young alumni. It's not that hard to make it to your seat for kickoff, but people just don't care to do so.

Yoshi, did you just do the pregame music? I didn't have much of a problem with that, just can't stand the constant playing of music between plays. It takes away from (i.e. prevents) a real atmosphere.

I think we have a lot of "casual fans" who come in for one or two games a year.

These folks -- used to the (relatively) quick and easy pathways at the pro stadiums like MetLife and Lincoln Financial -- don't realize just how long it will take to 1.) get to the parking lots and 2.) get to your seats, especially if you're parked out at Livingston and are stuck in a bus queue.

It's not as simple as walking up to the stadium and having an army of staff ready to check your bags and scan your tickets...

Good luck DJ, I liked all you did except not let the song play out if people were into it.
But, I'm old and what do I know.
Health and success to ya

Thanks Yoshi for your service to RU. I will miss you and wish you best of luck. See you at the Goal Bar parties at Devils games.

Many conservative suburban folks dont like "club or dance" music, its a culture trend that goes back to the Disco days but that is a completely other topic.

Props, Yoshi!! I thought you brought energy to the event, and enjoyed your show! Good Luck in your future endeavors.

Good luck DJ Yoshi. While what you did was not my cup of tea, I could see the PLAYERS liked what you did in the pre-game, and that is what is important. Yes, the fans matter too, but you will not satisfy both camps. Folks should abide by the rule that you should not post a message on this forum unless you would say it to the person's face.

Yoshi just put the drop on all you fools... he's 100% correct. As a young alum when he started, I absolutely knew what Yoshi was doing and how their plan connected to today's environment... I enjoyed his time here and appreciate his contributions to our program. I hope he knows more appreciated his work than not.

DJ yoshi good luck to you . I never had an opinion on your performance , I usually show up to my seat at about kick off . Good luck to you !

You played that loud, terrible noise that hurt my eardrums! Turn that damn music down, you whippersnapper! Why don't you play some civilized music like Glenn Miller, Billie Holiday, the Chiffons and Bing Crosby? Now that's stylin'!

Let's be serious: this is NJ, and people are NEVER gonna be in their seats early.
The old timers complain about everything. I bet they wanted Nova to play QB this year.
Damnit, if we hadn't fired Frank Burns we'd have beaten Washington 2 weeks ago!

I'm beyond 35 and like the music. It just needs to be turned down a little bit, which it seemed to have been this past week compared to Howard game week...

You are a class act.
Your legend will linger on.
Like a Fat Bitch fart.

I was always a Yoshi fan, though I know some of the older fans didn't get it. Good luck to you, see you at the Rock.
