So explain Miami

We all know the hire should have been Al Golden but as usual the school decided to go a more fiscally prudent route. I have nothing against coach Ash and wish him nothing but success. But he does not have head coaching experience nor does he have enough star power to recruit top 20 classes at least for the next four years. I will not even discuss the offensive coordinator and the craziness he is trying to implement with kids who are not suited for a spread offense.

No, we don't. You keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better

Okay, let me get this straight. We are playing Michigan tonight, a strong rumor based on a tweet says Oden may start at QB, and we are having an argument about freaking Al Golden? Why?

LOL.

Funny thing is we scheduled them and they will probably return back to their glory days and be ranked #1 or #2 when it's time for us to play them. I swear if ever a team falls on hard times they should just schedule Rutgers. Your guaranteed to see a return to the top20 by time your ready to play us.

Explanation is simple. Miami has a lot of talent on the roster and Richt is an excellent coach.

So Golden could recrut well. The only argument this makes for bringing him in instead of Ash would be: at least when we can Golden in four years, the cupboard shouldn't be bare. We know he can't really coach up the talent he gets.

Instead we have Ash and we will see if he can do both the recruiting and the player development. I am happy to see how it plays out.

Rutgers is an bottom-budget AAC school playing a B1G schedule. Yeah, we have the B1G shoulder patches but make no mistake it's an AAC budget. We hired Ash because he fit the budget. He has great potential and many, including myself think he'll get the job done. But he's never been a HC. There's an unknown element which introduces risk. There's no way we could've afforded Richt.

Okay - everybody is Al Golden's agent now...he got ripped on here for years and now we have Ash and they have Richt number 10 to our 110.

10-4
Did you even think about this at all before you posted it? Golden got ripped because he's a terrible coach. Flood got ripped because he's a terrible coach and terrible recruiter. This isn't rocket science.

Miami has had very good to great talent over the years...Golden sucked as a head coach and was overpaid grossly ...he however did not leave the cupboard bare ....recruiting was his thing and he was good at it.

Al Golden this - Al Golden that - can't recruit...blah...blah..blah..they suck!

Last time I checked they are #10 in the country under Richt.

I don't even like Miami but you guys pile all this stuff at the foot of Flood but Richt in his first year has seemed to turn things around pretty quick???

To be honest not sold on Ash or that gimmick offense he runs - sure it's great if your good but if not your defense is on the field - a helluva long time.

IMO

You don't watch much college football if you think the power spread is a gimmick offense.

Georgia hired someone without HC experience.

I'm sorry man but do you realize how insanely idiotic you sound? Golden could recruit but never had results. Richt was always very solid at UGA. UGA wanted to change because they felt they could/should be better. THey have high aspirations but its not looking that great right now for kirby either.

Richt comes in and takes a good roster and immediately is getting some results in a weaker conference.

Do you think Richt would do as well with what ash inherited? I mean seriously. Stop thinking in absolutes because only you look absolutely foolish.

geez--he's only coached 5 games--some on here are truly ridiculous

Hey go back to whichever fan board you actually belong. You are not a rutgers fan.

An honest and well thought out post. What you say is 100% true. People here worry about which posters are true fans. I say this is who you should be worried about being loyal fans:

1. NJ Taxpayers
2. Your Governor
3. The University President
4. Board of Governors
5. Donors

If number 1 through 5 truly loved Rutgers football the way we do on this board we would have won several BE Championships and would be playing in a Rose Bowl this year or next. How you ask? Well let's start with who should have replaced Schiano, in my opinion Coach Bobby Petrino. If this was too cutting edge we at the very least should have pushed for Rodriguez or Golden when Flood was fired. But because of reasons I won't mention we were working on a shoe string budget and that is why we are on a 4-5 year rebuilding schedule.
