what do we think....great kid, great decision or do we attack him for not keeping his word.....just wondering.
Really... It's not about flipping a kid or de-committing. It's the fact the coach Ash was doing BC a favor by helping a kid out with no offers
Here is how it works:
1. If the kid flips from RU to another school, then he is a spineless weasel who can't honor a commitment and we should attack furvently.
2. If the kid flips to RU, then we praise him for making a great decision.
I made no reference to that situation. But go check twitter and you will see a group of "fans" are still going at it woth him...although he seems to be taunting people
Until a coach can't pull an offer at any moment you can't sit around and hope another school offers. Schools show interest in many kids but never offer. Committing often secures that offer. If your a kid with few offers you take what you can get. We also don't know what pressure Ash and company put on the kid. They may have told him it he doesn't commit now the offer might not be there.Flips happen all the time.
Idrizi should have never have committed if he knew BCU was interested. He showed a massive lack of respect for our coaches by flipping so quickly.

Ash would have waited 2 days. I'm pretty Ash didn't say "commit right now or the offer is off the table". If he did then I'm wrong and you are right.Until a coach can't pull an offer at any moment you can't sit around and hope another school offers. Schools show interest in many kids but never offer. How was he to know BC was going to offer in two days? Ash might not have been that blunt but often they throw the line we only have one slot for a TE. The first one to commit get the slot.Ash would have waited 2 days. I'm pretty Ash didn't say "commit right now or the offer is off the table". If he did then I'm wrong and you are right.
He simply should not have committed. I'm over it. It was just very bad form by him.
Not really. If you flip the right way, nobody really cares. If you flip like a douche (see Idrizi) then yea prepared to get bashed. Nobody bashed Russo when he flipped now did they?

If your at Best Buy and see a TV on sale but only one left to you buy it knowing you can return it or do you wait a few days to see if HHGregg has it cheaper in a few days?
Unfortunately for some kids who are not having offers from everywhere that is the decision they have to make. Both sides play games that aren't fair but it seems like the kids get ragged on the most by fans.
Until you see it writing you have to act as if it doesn't exist. He may have hoped or thought but many kids have been left out hoping.so you are saying that neither Idrizi nor Nunzio, the brother of a BCU coach had ZERO inkling that BCU might be offering? He got an offer and a visit 1 day? I call B.S. but who knows.

It seemed like Idrizzi was begging for an offer, he didn't get one until he came on his visit and committed immediately. In fact there were articles that clearly stated that the kid had no other P5 offers and was hoping to get one during the visit. Why would Ash need to pressure a kid that had no other offers?Ash would have waited 2 days. I'm pretty Ash didn't say "commit right now or the offer is off the table". Unreal the lack of any sense of loyalty by some....i'm just a Jersey guy who never went to RU...I CAN'T BELIEVE an alum would be so shallow..You're either with us or against us. There is no in between.
tix, if you implied it, you need to own it.what do we think....great kid, great decision or do we attack him for not keeping his word.....just wondering.
Not sure of the timing, but BC had a TE decommit sometime over the last few days that prompted the offer.
.
This is my last word on the topic because I honestly think we are going to get a far better TE prospect in the next year.
Truthfully we should consider ourselves lucky..he had a gift we really couldn't afford to give given back to use more wisely...it was more a PR move and BC needed the PR more than us given their situation and isolation from any real talent..Quite possible. But here is how you handle it--the guy was all over Twitter and the newspaper.
"I would like to apologize to the Rutgers coaches but I have decided to accept a scholarship offer from Boston College. I was a little too quick to pull the trigger and when making a big decision like this I want to make sure I'm making the right decision for me. I appreciate the RU coaches for showing faith in my ability and this isn't easy but I feel I have to do this"
He says that and people say, OK fine kid, have a nice life.
Instead he puts out a picture of him in a BCU jersey saying how much he wants to play for them.

I would say that most likely the case. I'll bet that BC was willing to try to bring him in as a preferred walk on. When Idrizi accepted a ship from RU, it forced BC to up their game. I don't believe for a second that this kid knew that BC was going to offer him a ship before he accepted the RU offer. He and his family's appreciation of the RU offer was too genuine for me believe that this was all an act that was orchestrated by the Camp brothers. Anyone that believes that also needs to be told that there is no boogie man or Easter Bunny. I would not say anything about Santa Claus though.so you are saying that neither Idrizi nor Nunzio, the brother of a BCU coach had ZERO inkling that BCU might be offering?
