Start Reiber on Edey?

Reiber looked like a child when he tried to guard Edey. He got absolutely abused. Dean put up zero resistance. This is an all time bad idea

If you are worried about Cliff, why in the world would you even consider Dean over Woolfolk? At least Woolfolk likes to bang and has physicality to his game

You start Cliff.

I love the idea of Riebs or Wolf banging hard early against Sofa King. Sofa King isn't used to hard bangers who don't give AF. Cliff can't play that way early, particularly on road, and Purdue has no backup.

Dean isn't a hard banger who doesn't give AF 🤣

That's not his game at alllll

Lol do you deny that you were off by about 40 on the Terps game lol? I got the screen shot right here buddy!! :)
Dean is our least effective defensive big vs a large 5. Your strategy would likely lead to Edey feasting early and getting his confidence high while putting Rutgers in a early hole to dig out of

Based on what? His thing at RU is he plays good D against large centers. And he can have no fear because his fouls don't matter.

That's not his thing at all. It's his biggest weakness 🤣

You seriously must have either not watched or don't remember Dean's minutes against Edey. Every time he got the ball he easily walked him under the rim and scored. Dean doesn't have the size or strength to stop him

"While Omoruyi played well offensively and was solid defensively against Trevion Williams and Zach Edey, his backups were eaten alive by Purdue’s dominant centers.

In the first half, Omoruyi held the pair to 3-of-7 shooting in the paint, but they combined for 23 points on 9-of-14 shooting (5-for-6 on free throws) against Ralph Agee and Dean Reiber. It got back to the point where former walk-on Luke Nathan was subbed on for the final minute to play hack-a-Edey"

The descriptions don't even do it justice. You have to see the visuals to really get just how outmatched he was

How did St Peter's stop Edey?

What I have been saying all week

Get back on defense first and not letting him set up so close to the basket . Make him shoot from 8-10’feet ..pushing the entire offense further away from the hoop

That’s what wolf did at the end of the first half
Of the OSU game against key…and it changed the game

7:15 and 7:30 in are two possessions Dean guarded Edey. The 7:30 one pretty clearly shows Dean cannot guard Edey

I get the OPs point. The refs are gonna have a quick whistle early in. And then things will settle down. There is a kernel of wisdom in the idea of sending in a backup to pick the Refs knee jerk early whistles and then send in Cliff after it settles down.

But overall it’s a bad idea for all the reasons mentioned and will never happen. Not the least of which it undermines Cliff by showing a lack of confidence.

One is just a random turn around hook lol? You joking us, Scangg?!
Look at where he catches the ball and how easily he moves Reiber to wherever he wants to go on both possessions. It’s a terrible matchup, I don’t get why you’re so hung up on this.

There would have been plenty more examples had Pike not taken Reiber out of the game because it was blatantly obvious to anyone watching that he couldn’t guard Edey.

A smart player would understand the situation. Not the first time.

Cliff will be riding pine at 17:00 and ya'll will be making excuses. Won't admit I called it exactly right. See you tomorrow. Go Rutgers.

Cliff may or may not get into early foul trouble, but you still won't be right bc Wolf will check into the game
Exactly. I get Pike has done this in the past. He started Shaq Carter and Cliff over Myles at times to avoid Myles picking up early fouls.

Why he would start Reiber instead of Woolfolk is the part that makes zero sense to me.

Alright dude. As I recall, I was the guy to shout you out on Knightline. Now you rip my idea? Low. And I said Wolf or Riebs, doesn't matter.
