Still gets 2 star rating from Rivals

I mean it's really hard to argue, I hate to sit here and sort of bash our commits but you guys have to learn to think a little. He doesn't have one other BCS offer and he's a legacy to WVU, lives 15 mins away, made it known that he badly wanted to go there, has a stud younger brother...and still they and others didn't pull the trigger. 247 has him as our lowest rated commit.

Anytime you commit to D1A school you automatically get bumped to 2 stars

I guess he from the no recruit left behind movement where he thinks everyone should be 4 or 5 stars. Maybe they shouldn't even rate them and just had out participation stars. Every school has a handful of kids who you can argue should be rated higher but someone needs to be a two star. That doesn't mean the kid will never produce. What the point of having a rating system is your going to give them all high rating. If the kid had at least one power 5 offer then you might argue but this is defiantly not the recruit you want to use a poster board.

Care to explain the how a 2 star commit to Minnesota has over 20 FBS offers? He has offers from Miami, Arizona, West Virginia, and Pittsburgh to name a few. A lot of times it comes down to a kid being reviewed and graded. I trust coaches more than anot analyst for a recruiting service.

WVU knew that he'd commit the moment they offered so they probably had him as a plan B or C. RU targeted him for a few months. RU is a better academic school in a better part of the country and is in a better conference.

Hopefully he'll have a great first semester at RU in 2017. Oh, his little brother is a 2018 4 Star top 250 prospect. Remember RU, landed Brian Leonard because they treated his older brother well.

Absolutely this.

He is a known quantity.

I sincerely hope he is severely underrated but you can't help but think Ash and company are aiming a little low especially considering we have more commits than pretty much everyone else in the power 5. Hell for all we know he could be a stud. However, usually the diamonds in the rough like Kemoko Turay are from lesser known programs, or haven't been playing for very long.

I'm willing to bet this has more to do with his brother than anything else.

I know. But our recruit only had offers from Appalachian State and Kent St. so that might be in line with his rating.

Explain this one to me. When I go through the Rivals recruiting database, I get this as a result:

DariusStillsRivals_zpsjf2nvhmq.jpg

Rivals has him at 5.4 rating and 2 stars if you click on him from the RU Rivals homepage.
However, if you go to the recruiting database & fill in his name & click he gets a 5.5 & 3stars!
WHAT's GOING ON RIVALS?????

I see that psu education is paying significant dividends. I hate to be a grammar Nazi, but come on man.

Umm, no. Never have, never will care about star ratings. If the coaches spot a recruit in a camp or through other means and believe they fit the system, that is good enough for me.
But you said you could care less, meaning you care.

Do you agree with the message?
I don't understand the ins and outs of the star system, but PSU Nut seems to be bringing up a valid point.

On PSU Nut saying: "defiantly not the recruit you want to use a poster board." could be changed easily to defiantly the recruit you want to use as poster board material showing how good the RU FB staff does when evaluating under the radar recruits, if the kid does well and especially if he earns all conference.

If coaches get commitments from too many players they evaluated wrong, they'll be out of a job in a few years. Conversely, posters who say someone is an absolute must have, or question why the staff offered a two star recruit, and are ultimately proven wrong continue to post as though they know how to evaluate talent, or the lack thereof.

Would we have offered Devin McCourty if his brother wasn't such a high recruit?

Glad we did.
Why would Rutgers go after a 2 star with no other real offers? That worked out well Rutgers as he turned out to be 1st round pick. Meanwhile, his brother who was considered the better prospect only end up as a 6th round pick. Rutgers blew it with both of them.[roll]

Perception isn't reality. That's how we're in trouble now with Trump having a real shot at being president.:(

Isn't that exactly what I am saying? Are you contending Trump doesn't have a real shot at being elected?

He has more than a real shot. Too many people didn't take him serious enough in the beginning, now they are up in arms. The perception was Trump was a joke and now he's a force in politics. You couldn't have said it better in your original post. I just wants to second that post.[cheers]
