Suggestions, new coaching staff

I’m just being realistic. CVS won’t be fired. But I’m sure she’ll retire in a year or two.
if she does comeback, she'll have a lot to overcome.
One is how bad this program is now and another is top HS talent might shy away because they don't trust her being healthy enough to do the type of coaching that makes for a winning program and develops their talent enough to move to the pro game .
transfers might look at Rutgers as a fall back school instead of a top destination , for the same reasons.

Vivian needs to move to administration and retire as HC ASAP.
Returning will just slow the downfall, retiring will give Hobbs a chance to correct it

Exactly. We can’t kick the can down the road any longer.

Rutgers absolutely can not accept CVS Stringer sitting idly by next season. If she is unable to coach it is far better to put the issue out in the open. If she forces the hand of Hobbs in this then she loses credibility and the respect of the school and it’s supporters. Maybe she’ll be back but that’s quite doubtful at this point.

If she does return she needs to bring a new offense with her! We are seeing the same offense we have seen in the past. The only difference is that we had more talent and the 55 to overcome the poor offense sets.

Never in a million years would that happen.

It’s been so hush hush for so long It’s frustrated all of us. I wonder what’s really in her head and heart. It’s hard to fathom that a person as prideful as she is would allow her team and legacy to be so tarnished

As competititive as she is, CVS might feel she can overcome what the problem ( whatever it is) she has now and get back to coaching without skipping a beat..

sure why not as long as she is given the keys to the queendom to do whatever she wants cause she's got somebody, something held over a barrel like this.
Given ALL due respect where in the world of Big time college hoops would something like this take place other than Rutgers.
Luv ya CVS. Enough already. this is selfish to the max now.
Take your cash and take care of your family. No issues there. But please move on.

Always thought.. in all sports.. that the Shore people LOVE New Jersey and Rutgers would have an easier time convincing Shore recruits to stay in NJ than they do anyone else.

I have read comments about from where past great recruits came.. but isn't that skewed by where CVS likes to recruit.. where she has "pull"?

I'm not sure we need to paint a box around what we need in a coach. Hopefully, Hobbs will find the best possible candidate (that he has the budget for and can convince to come here) and not use any other criteria than that.

Rutgers needs better legal representation in terms of contracts and showing some guts when it comes time to separate from some employees. This is less about CVS and more about past.. er.. severances given to some former employees... like Hobb's predecessor. To have agreed to a contract extension to basically need to pay TWO head coaching salaries if you want one who has reached retirement age to actually retire? Crazy. That should have been a non-starter.

Please call Shauna
The second the horn sounds on the last game if not sooner also make the announcement that CVS is moving upstairs to her ADMINISTRATIVE position LOL which I am sure she will also do from home; another words take every last million from Rutgers that she can!!!

Dayton's Shauna Green would make an excellent canidate worth considering

she has been there for 6 years now and looks like at 18-3 and they could be in line for a third NCAA appearance. they already have 4 regular season A10 titles. This is the point where someone is going to try hiring her away to a ACC SEC or Big 12 program.

Shauna will be on everyones short list. I hope it's not too late to get her. She recruits well and plays a great style of basketball.

Go get Shauna now. I know for a fact that Barnes Arico wanted to stay in the NY metro area when she moved to a bigger program, but she wound up in Michigan. Banghardt clearly would have preferred not moving her family from NJ before she went to UNC for $650,000, only 2/3s of what we pay CVS. Enough already. Make the move.

Shauna currently makes about $450K, maybe has incentives as well. Would not most likely be a cheap hire.

I have no problem with her receiving consideration, I have long rooted for Dayton in a small way (Jim Jabir who I liked a lot was there before her). However, one of the considerations when hiring from a mid-major is whether or not the candidate can transition to the P5 level. You may recollect, for example, that Kevin Borseth from Green Bay could not transition to Michigan. There are many examples of coaches who were far more successful not on the big stage. And having watched some A10 ball on TV this year, it is not the type of basketball played in the B1G (which I already knew). The A10 style still resembles what it was 25 years ago when Rutgers was a member, to an extent.

That said, it is a good source for future coaches. You just have to sound them out and make sure they understand the differences in "game" and recruiting that they will be facing. Someone in her position moving into the P5 will be recruiting athletes that they previously couldn't waste the time even looking at film of.

Dayton plays a great style of basketball and Shauna has beaten multiple SEC, B1G and ACC teams over the years. They have beaten Purdue Illinois and Clemson this year alone. Shauna knows how to run a major program. Been on staff at Northwestern and Providence and Dayton runs their basketball program like a major. Not worried in the least by Shauna coming from the A10.

I know someone mentioned that Berube will not want to move to a bigger school but I have think she is certainly on Hobbs shortlist

what about Tami Weiss over at URI...they are 18-3 this season, I think its her 3rd year there, former WNBA player, played at Virginia
her 3rd year and a good one this season
Her first two 13-16 & 11-8 weren't nothing to write home to mother about, but did show she could improve the teams play in her second year and make it even better (now)
Making her look even better is the fact tha Tami took over a program that was 8-21 the year before.

I like the idea of players who either played in the WNBA or played at high level programs like UConn and Notre Dame

the issue will be money....I would imagine Weiss and maybe the head coach at BC will be the cheap hires while Duffy, Grant and Berube will cost alot more. There are definitely coaches available. The issue is how messy the CVS thing will be.

Also lets talk about the white elephant in the room..there will be a very strong push to have a black coach..that is just reality...IMO where are they, I think giving flyers on a head coach to satisfy a social movement would be disasterous for where this program is right now and I dont think Chelsea Newton is the right hire at this moment.

Hiring the best HC available that will accept what RU will offer is the main priority.
Any push for anything else in a legitimate candidate should be met with the length of time Rutgers had a black HC .
I think you're making a problem that doesn't exist and if a black candidate seems the best fit, I hope people worried about the race of whose hired will accept the decision to hire..

I'm afraid the best candidates ( all) might pass on RU if RU doesn't offer a good wage and the best available at bargain basement cost will be hired.
Meaning some RU WBB fans might wonder why so and so wasn't offered the job, not knowing job was offered, but salary was a no no.

Hobbs has made multiple HC hires across the entire athletic program and not one has been bargain basement. Anyone paying attention knows this. And not for nothing we can still offer a very competetive salary structure and still save money.

I hope he continues to do so and the WBB program pays what it takes to bring home someone considered a great catch.
Over the years I've seen RU hire on the cheap and still worry about it.

Coach Stringer has stayed at home for the 2021-2022 "basketball season," which will likely come to an end in the first round of the B1G WBB tournament.
Will she return to work after the tournament?

Hopefully in Administratyion while the RU AD looks for a new RU WBB HC.

Folks, we are about to have a tsunami of new contract Big Ten TV money pour into Rutgers. Money that ADs couldn’t dream of ten years ago. We are not in the Eastern 8 anymore! WE ARE IN THE BIG TEN !!! We need to start acting like it in all our sports. Don’t be cheap Rutgers. Be Big Ten Rutgers. Go out and get a really good coach and pay him or her.

These is no need to overpay for a coach. You can easily work with the current salary and benefits package and come away with a very good coach.

I know Hobbs wasn’t here then, but you just don’t want to see some of the anti-Rutgers sports people pushing for another Schiano to Flood contract situation

Sometimes you just need to take a step back and read the room a bit. We're not hiring an assistant from Eastern Tennessee.
